How to remove the carburetors from a Virago XV750

Hi Clive have you done a video on cleaning your carbs. The reason I ask is my 92 virago 750 has been standing for a while, and only one cylinder is firing. It has a spark on both cylinders. So I’ve concluded that the fuel has jelled and the carb needs cleaning. I found your video easier to listen to, as its in ‘English’ English and not ‘American’ English, which is often mixed with a few *** words. If you know what I mean. Thank you Clive.

I haven't, wish I had made one. I can not express the importance of cleaning the pilot channel as it has more than one right angle bend in it. Clive Hancy, what's that little mini air filter next the carbs??? I also have a virago 81 Cafe Racer... But I don't have that little extra air filter. What is it for?

Oxy Doze It’s the breather from the rocker cover. It originally has a pipe on it which goes down to drain any excess oil and is often on the rear cylinder. I switched it to the front and added the small filter instead of a ugly pipe.

@@Sorcli Hey Clive, is this the hose that is behind the air filter bug eye( the breather hose that needs calm air)? ? not sure what to do with an exposed hose .Think it's an eye sore too. I have a 97 XV750

Marceldbd sorry I don’t understand which hose you’re talking about

Marceldbd If you’re talking about the breather from the cam cover, it’s necessary otherwise the pressure builds up in the engine. It allows gas and some slight amount of oil out. Use s small filter like I did.

Hi I have virago 750 1983 and i can’t find tarter and freewheel for it but I found 535 engine but no carburetor. Do you think I can monte that engine on my bike? And can I use my 750 carburetor on the 535 engine? Thank you so much.

Mhamed ALAOUI No the 535 engine will not fit. I you need a flywheel you can find them on eBay or carburettors.

Lamentablemente yo los quite y al poner uno de los tornillos que unen la pipeta con el cilindro #1 lo quebré , orita estoy batallando en conseguir la herramienta especial para sacarlo

Sorry to hear that. You need a screw extractor but to use that you need to drill a hole in the centre which will mean you will need a right angle drill or you will have to dismantle the engine.

Mark Lindsay Yes, found the o-ring on the carb mount was damaged and so I had a vacuum leak

gorgon If you do the exact opposite it’s just as easy. Perhaps I’ve got it fine tuned as I’ve done it so many times due to initial carb blockage problems.
