How to remove the catalytic converter from a stock 2016 Harley Davidson Exhaust. Cut and Weld

I've done a few more of these since this one for people that live in really hot climates in the south but they were the round style that you can just drill and punch out. SO much easier.

I agree. I don't think I'd even attempt this style any other way. I have done a few of the newer round ones by coring them out with a wood spade bit.

Someday when I move into a real shop I will get a tig welder and learn how to use it! That is as you know the ideal way to do a job like this and using the proper filler. Now that being said, I routinely weld up stainless car exhaust systems for people with plain ole MIG wire and normal mix gas. It's kinda ugly compared to TIG but I have never had anyone come back.

All you have to do is use a map for another 2-1-2 headpipe, and then autotune. Closest would be a Bassani 2x2 headpipe or a Supertrapp 2:1:2 unfiltered pipe. Not really that hard. Same idea as using some obscure exhaust or slip on and going with the closest thing in the lineup.

With the tuner required to make this work it's unlikely. That being said this isn't intended to be some macho modification like you see with a lot of guys on high performance cars. When riding in the desert you are simply trying to get the heat out of the exhaust and away from the rider. The owner which lives on the mexico boarder was extremely pleased with the outcome.

That’s not how it works with engines. An engine is a mechanical lung. The better it inhales and exhales, the better it operates. When you restrict the flow of either, the engine is less efficient. Plus, putting a catalytic converter next to the engine adds extra heat to an air cooled engine which isn’t ideal. Also, having that hot section of pipe next to your leg is no fun either.
