It might seem straightforward once you get the hang of it, but there are often many unknowns and concerns, especially for beginners. As a Japanese MR-S owner, I had a hard time finding domestic videos and detailed photos, so I really appreciate this. Thanks a lot!

No single video on fuel injector removal on 2gr fe engine. Would have to try to use this to do same on 2gr
@Merryfrankster_ Жыл бұрын
For the 2GR you must remove the intake plenum in order to remove the injectors from the rear bank.
@Merryfrankster_ Жыл бұрын
The intake plenum is supported by two brackets bolted to the rear cylinder head. You must reach around to unfasten those if you want the plenum to come off.

VERY helpful, thank you. Based on your caution about the plastic spacers, I wrapped cable ties around them before unscrewing the bolts. Probably overkill, but I didn't lose them!

Is it better 450cc injectors when OEM injectors for 1ZZ engine?
@Merryfrankster_ Жыл бұрын
For turbo with standalone ECU. Not for stock engine, stock ECU.

To get to that fuel relay C/OPN Relay. I think you have either very thin arms and fingers, or you will have to pull the battery, and then reinstall the battery.
@Merryfrankster_ Жыл бұрын
Or you are one foot tall and you can get under the car and put a ladder against the firewall.
@Merryfrankster_ Жыл бұрын
After the car sits for a little while (couple of hours does it) there is no more fuel pressure, you can pull the fuel line without any worry, and you don't have to monkey with anything to release fuel pressure, it just releases itself.
@Merryfrankster_ Жыл бұрын
If you are in a hurry just put a couple of rags around the fitting when you release it, you will capture all the fuel, it is just a tiny amount, remember, fuel is incompressible, any release is just due to stretch in the rubber lines.
@Merryfrankster_ Жыл бұрын
This nonsense that gets passed down about running the engine to drain the fuel is just that, nonsense.

Frank, do you think it is possible to remove the intake manifold after this procedure?
@Merryfrankster_3 жыл бұрын
Yes, it can be done, you have to get a lot of stuff out of the way, and it helps to take the engine off the mounts and move it to make space.
@andrewsparey6973 жыл бұрын
Thank you Frank - am i safe to presume in the end you need to pull the intake manifold toward where the (removed) battery would be located ? End goal is There is a radiator hose leading from the oil filter base and it disappears up under the intake manifold. I cannot think of any other way to reach it
@Merryfrankster_3 жыл бұрын
@@andrewsparey697 I think you are talking about the thermostat housing. You can reach it from under the car. Take the starter out first.
@andrewsparey6973 жыл бұрын
@@Merryfrankster_ ah so there are three hoses. The thermostat hose has been replaced. There are also two small hoses coming off the base of the oil filter. One is fully replaceable but the other disappears up near the intake manifold and is not possible to reach from underneath. Also pulled the alternator but was unable to get to from that side. So an attempt at a manifold removal is my last resort
@Merryfrankster_3 жыл бұрын
@@andrewsparey697 I see. It sounds like you have a factory oil cooler. I have never seen one of these on a US car

Frank why do you have 450 injectors? MAF mod?
@Merryfrankster_6 жыл бұрын
This car has a Rotrex centrifugal supercharger and this requires more fuel than the stock 260cc/min injectors can provide.
