I bought my 2001 MR2 Spyder in Dec 2019 with a blown motor and my plan has always been to K swap it. Well, fast forward almost a year and the K Swap is under way, but wait... there’s more. Since its going to be awhile b4 I finish building my K series I thought I’d swap in another 1ZZ so I could at least enjoy my MR2 Spyder. This video captures everything I did to the new 1ZZ. Enjoy. Pls comment and of course, ask questions.

I'll be uploading more product lines soon.
Thx, AJ

My valve cover gasket began leaking at 85k miles. It was a relief I wasn't burning oil though, just the leak. Very fun video to watch, you make working on it look easy!!

Did you not replace PCV valve as you've replaced the pipe for it, the PCV valve always gets overlooked on a service and is an inexpensive part to replace.

Very nice! I heard some people say it’s tricky to replace the rear main seal. According to them, if it doesn’t leak, just don’t touch it when I was asking them about replacing it when I plan to replace my clutch and flywheel. They said it would be very easy to get leaked without a proper SSP but here I see you just pry the old one out and tap the new one in, so is it really tricky or just baseless rumors? Thanks!

Thx for the kind words. Pls subscribe. Everyone is tripping out. The rear main seal is super easy. I recommend adding molykote or motor oil as I do to the ID of the rear main seal prior to installation. Once it is lubricated it almost slides on by hand. Push it on as symmetrical as u can and then use a mallet to finish the install. Also, purchase a quality rear main seal… OEM or NOK. I did this same operation in this vid as well… use the chapters to skip around as required. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oIbHhatshLalg7csi=v7CCYRL0EbyDicjw

I thought the mr2 1zzfe block was different from one from a Corolla, Matrix?

@@RelentlessRacingAJ At 3.35 the video has a caption that says Canadian 2003 Matrix 1zz. So yes, technically you didn't mention it.

@@basshnter1997 ah yes, the key here is Toyota fixed the known issues of the 1ZZ for model years 2000-2002. Also, when u wrote, “I thought the 1zzfe block was different…” what did u mean? How do you think the block is different?

@@RelentlessRacingAJ Something about the mr2 spider 1zz block having holes drilled for an axle carrier that the other 1zz blocks for Corolla,Matrix don't need.

@@basshnter1997 ahhhh, from what I have read u r correct. However, based on my block VIN, my block is from a 2003 Canadian Matrix and it has threads for the axle carrier bracket. Pls keep in mind I’m not a 1ZZ expert. This is the only non-MRS 1ZZ I’ve played with.
