The instructions here are great, but my belt was nearly clean and wiping it off didn't solve the stripes on my prints. What I _did_ notice though is that the secondary transfer roller _was_ quite dirty, and in fact had black and colored stripes in the same positions as were showing up on the paper. Removing *that* roller is *much* simpler (almost nothing else has to be removed). Go figure. I washed and dried the roller, but it didn't help. I finally replaced the color cartridges and voila! the colored stripes disappeared. Go figure. I still have black stripes, but I have no replacement cartridge for that so I'll just have to order that and wait.

Thanks for the video. I needed to clean the transfer belt, but couldn't figure out how to get the toner tray out. It's so nice to watch someone that knows what they are doing.

Wow that is a lot of work! If I took mine all apart like that I don't think I would get it back together. So sad. I was hoping I could fix this. My printer hasn't even been used much.

I’m not using any alcohol for cleaning the belt. There’s no need for cleaning the transfer belt, you only clean the transfer cleaning blade.

@@Coronatechnical thank you so much for the reply. I ended up cleaning it, but the cyan keeps dumping streaks on the prints. I wonder if there is a way just to clean the cyan or do you think i'll need to just replace the whole cartridge. When I did the test to see how much ink is left it is about 30%

you don't have to replace the whole toner cartridge. you just clean the cyan imaging unit. if the streaks still appears, then replace the cyan imaging unit.

Hi, I tried to extend the transfer belt and I have come so far to pull out the belt unfortunately it jams on the back left side. Right side is ok and I can also push up the belt but not left. Can you tell me why it's stuck? According to your video, it's easy to pry out.

I had the same problem. Make sure that the "front door" (where you remove the toner cardriges) is open! There's a lock in place that prevents the belt from being removed when the front door is closed. Lost half an hour to find that out.

i am able to clean the belt but seems there is lots and lots of blue powder in the last part that pushed the paper through at the end of the belt. do you know how to clean that ?

The blue powder may be from the cyan developer unit. This error occurs if you are using a compatible toner or developer. Use a vacuum cleaner to clean it.

He was cleaning the sides of the belt. For me, I was getting black smudge marks on each side of my paper, and this fixed seemed to help it.

I've added a photo of a photo printed by the printer to show the quality. kzbin.infoUgkx-p39-0aeo2zzlTJzXhwlZ_zUNm1lnIci Many reviews complain about the heavy yellow tone of printed photos; avoid this by editing your photos towards the blue end of the temperature spectrum. I also suggest increasing the exposure a little when editing because photos will print a little dark if you do not.If you follow these steps to edit your photos prior to printing, your photos will look too bright and too blue on your phone but they will print perfectly.Highly recommend!

I stopped watching after 2 minutes, no offense against your technical expertise, but if I had to do all that to my printer just to change a part that should not have failed, I may as well throw it in the garbage. HP printers are a big rip-off toner extremely expensive. Knock-off cartridges poor color and leak all over. Best to stick with a Brother laser printer. You should change music to something sad.
