Completely misleading video. You cannot access the battery by simply removing the kickstand. You have to remove the screen to access anything on the inside. Removing the kickstand and removing the battery are unrelated and shouldn't be in the same video.

This video is part of a series on the disassembly of the entire surface pro 4. To remove the display you would need to watch our display removal video.

That makes no sense. This video is titled "Kickstand / Battery Removal" yet you just skip over a whole bunch of steps for removing the battery. A video called "Battery Removal" should show you how to remove the battery. This one doesn't.
@ariez846 жыл бұрын
I was wondering why ifixit made their instructions so much more complicated....turns out this video is 100% misleading....watched the entire video and it seemed like you remove the kickstand and then the backplate behind kickstand and the battery will be right there. NOPE! Really a dangerous video because it made it seem like a semi-easy job....but is MUCH MUCH harder than what the video shows just to change the battery.
@Dead1ggz6 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry Jim, but the video is not misleading, you are just mistaken. It is at this point in the repair that the video starts and they have a link IN THE VIDEO saying it as such that will redirect you to the repair video leading up to that point. Don't blame the channel because you can't pay attention.

You remove the hinge screws on the outside and then jumped to "now in the Inside" without showing how to get to the inside. How did you get to the inside to access those screws?

I seem to be missing the part as to why you would want to remove the battery, and not have any instruction on how to fi a new one?If it is difficult to fit a new one, why the hell upload a video showing how to remove the original battery?Am I right in thinking MS charge 400 for replacement batteries?

apart from having 2 parts, this video shows the removal of the kickstand because the actual back of the surface pro to which the battery is glued inside has to be heat-gunned pretty hefty to losen the glue. that's where the kickstand is hindering the heat up process as it's a second layer which doesn't need heating up.

Why the company not make the replasemnet really eassy
@sackfullofrocks42925 жыл бұрын
why would they? if i make a product, and i can spend less money on manufacturing by making the device front loaded, Then I just 1. saved money and 2.took away the consumers ability to work on this at home, meaning they HAVE to bring it to me to fix if it breaks, so i make more money. it sucks, but making things easy for consumers to repair themselves isnt in the best interest of the companys profit. they SHOULD do these things but why would they, if profit is the goal?
