Brilliant, followed the vid and changed the handle, couldn't have done it without. But tape the 10mm socket onto the extension to stop it coming off and then having to fish inside the tailgate with magnet.

Really useful video as I have just had to replace the tailgate release switch. Two points, on the later tailgates with the wider housing there are 8 bolts, not 6 and they are 8mm not 10mm. Whole operation took about25 minutes :-) :-)

Hi Henry, what was wrong with your boot release if you don’t mind me asking? It’s just that mine keeps opening by itself. I even took the fuse out but it’s still doing it. Was this the fault that you had? Regards

Thanks good video, what if the tailgate is stuck shut how do I get it open. have got the panel off but it won't con right off as stuck at the bottom so can't access the bolts

FYI The MY2014 facelift model with long handle has 8 8mm bolts holding it on.
