When we reassembled the drawers we ran into another problem. The top rack went in askew. As a result on corner stuck out and the main drawer door did not fully close. To avoid this when you put the rack back in slide it all the way in and then pop the 2 clips back down. That ensures that when the cogs engage they are aligned.

Helped with reseating the gears that a kid somehow skipped a tooth in and the door wouldn't fully close. Wish I'd found this the 1st time I took the freezer apart for a clogged defrost drain. Totally unscrewed the door off the track instead of pressing in those 2 tabs. Thanks! Tip for others: the axel on the bottom drawer/door. The right side gear wheel does pressure clip in even though it seemed to just loose itself with no help while I had it all apart.

My fingers could not depress those side tabs enough to lift those rear brackets, so I was forced to use the tip of a small screwdriver to "gently" push those tabs in enough (not enough to destroy them) to raise up those brackets. That did it for me. Good video... saved me a lot of trouble when replacing my ice maker...
@havisharrison35934 жыл бұрын
I was finally successful using two flat-ended screwdrivers: one to hold tension on the bracket latches, one to push in the tabs.

Thank you for this gift of knowledge. The basket had been an enormous vexation as it prevented me from getting to compartment below and the floor of the freezer where a spill had occurred. At the moment, the appliance reassembled and ready to have items placed within, I can relax knowing the job is done, and with temperatures in the 20s today, there is no hurry to empty the coolers wherein I placed items. Thank you, you shall be toasted with my next beer.

Great video. I'm struggling with the tabs in back, They don't seem to want to budge. They're in the up position. Do I push the tabs in, Don't want to break them. I know once I release them, I can just pull out the drawer..... Perhaps someone else can answer my question. who figured this out. Can't be that difficult, which puts me in idiot category. Thanks, Ron

The tabs need to come out of the holes so you can slide the piece up. I pushed one tab in with a screwdriver and slightly pulled the piece up on one side then did the same for the other tab. Then slide the piece straight up. It only slides up about a 1/2 inch. It should look like this @1:35

Super...many thanks. Those two tabs on each side of the top rack were a PITA for me but got it done. They were not grimy or dirty, just very difficult to push them both in simultaneously in order to lift the bracket up a 1/4 inch. I just did this and it was a bit of a pain. Flat head screwdriver and with a fair bit of force I pushed the first tab in and up just a tiny fraction. Then moved carefully to the second one (the first one has a tendency to pop back if you nudge it at all) and press hard back and up. Even then it took a bit to release it but it did work okay.

Thank you very much for the tip! Everything worked fine as per the video. I have two different printed guides from Maytag for my refrigerator-freezer and neither of them address removing shelves, dividers, doors, etc. Apparently they don't want the owner trying to perform simple tasks on their appliances. They probably want the homeowner to spend money calling a repair person.
