If I had seen this video two hours ago, I'd of been done over an hour ago. Whirlpool doesn't give any instructions on any of this, and so videos like yours are real backsavers (and also save one from getting out the sledgehammer). Thanks!

Thank you for producing this video. I faced the same issue about a decade ago with my Kitchenaid. I pulled the sheet metal cover off the back and traced the problem to the grommet which had clogged up. Removed the grommet and melted the dammed up ice. Problem fixed forever. No need to operate on anything on the inside of the fridge.

Thank you. I have a Whirlpool Refrigerator Model WRB322DMBM00 refrigerator. It has a bottom freezer. I need to access the ice maker and couldn't figure out how to remove the upper basket. I called whirlpool and was told we don't have any information on how to remove the upper basket and you need to call a service rep. So in there opinion, if you want to just clean the inside of your freezer, you need to call a service man just to remove the basket. I watch several videos, and you were the only one that told us how to remove the upper basket. Thank you so much !!!!

The instructions in the video were spot on. I ordered the upgraded P-Trap from you and replaced it in under 30 minutes. Followed the instructions in the video to get at the clogged drain and used a hair dryer to melt the ice jam. Took me about 90 minutes to remove everything, melt the ice, and put it all back together. Not a bad job. Thank you.

So thankful for the help. I went through it twice. I should have removed the back panel off the rear of the fridge and run a wire or drill bit up thru the drain pipe to clear. Didn't do it so had to do again by removing ice like the video shows then boring out the drain from the back side of the fridge. Hey I'm 77 and if I can do it you can too.

Thank you for the video. For anyone doing this, please note that there could be a ton of ice accumulated in the silver tray under the fins; and even it will require quite a bit of hot water to melt it all. I only changed the drain pipe thinking that the issue would go away. NO!! I had to do what this video shows to melt all the ice. I even had a huge block of ice on the right side on top of the fins.

Took me 3 hrs, but I finally did it! I kept getting a "door ajar" alarm on after we were finished. The LED lights inside wouldn't come on nor would the ice/water dispenser work. Come to find out, the electric clip on the back that hooks up to the water pump was flipped the wrong way. Unfortunately it slides on either way so you have to remember which side is correct before you remove it. Thanks Appliance Video! Your customer service dept. was very helpful and spot on. No problems whatsoever!.. I highly recommend using them. Saved a bunch of $ and everything fit perfectly! So glad b/c my freezer has been leaking for over a year. Great instructional video, I removed the grommet and cleaned it with dish soap and water and a small brush. It removed all the sticky gunk. I was not able to remove the top drawer in the freezer so I improvised. I place a hair dryer against the vents on the back wall and melted all the ice behind the wall. I also slid a paper towel in between the panels which absorbed the water. So far it has worked very well and should be a fix until the replacement P trap kit arrives.

Thanks for the great video. It took me all of 25 minutes. What sped up the process for me was taking a 1/4" of the flexible poly sprinkler distribution line and using it as a syphon and to also blow out the line. Good luck to everyone doing this due to Whirlpool's obvious design flaw.

Thank you for this video. I did this fix today on our Whirlpool Gold fridge. Everything was exactly as it was in the video. Took a daunting task and made it straightforward and easy enough for me to do myself. You saved me money, and in the process, I learned how the fridge was built. I did break a clip on the shroud in the back, but the other 2 hold it in place fine. Thank you again! Very good video.

Followed your instructions and was finished in about 45 minutes. I had already replaced the rubber check valve in the back, but there was a lot of ice frozen behind the panel in the back of the freezer. After thawing it out, it drained perfectly. If we go more than a week without ice in the bottom, then we know it is fixed. Thanks for the video!

Thanks for the detail explanation. Freezer was working but fridge was warm. Everything in back looked ok and didn't see any ice inside the freezer.... until I removed the back panel. OMG!!! It was encased with ice. Took a few hours to melt, clean up, dry, but it works like a champ! Now I am wondering if perhaps we left the freezer door ajar leading to the ice or if the auto-defrost is not working? Ugh!
@lorrainewaddell10484 жыл бұрын
OMG! It worked. I didn't take the back panel off the freezer-afraid I'd never get it back on. But by careful use of a turkey baster and a margarita straw, I got enough water through the vent slots to melt the ice in the tube and get it draining into the tray. The grommet was indeed plugged when I had initially checked it. Hardest part of the repair was getting the drawers out. Friday afternoon fix, in rural Alberta, during the Covid fiasco! When do you suppose I'd have gotten a repairman to come and fix it, and what do you suppose the $$ would have been? Thank you, thank you! Now, to a better use for my margarita straw!!

Thanks for video, really helped me fix my issue. My issue was little different. My leak was coming from rubber tube that feeds the icemaker had frozen ice plugging it. So when the ice maker tried to water into icemaker the pressure in the line behind the refrigerator leaked. I had to do the same disassembly to get to the rubber tube and defrost the ice in it. I might have been able to do it all from the back by feeding hot water into the tube but not sure that would have worked or not. In any case this worked and we were able to do major clean out too! Thanks again!

I did this but with one main difference. Without removing the inside back panel, I used a hair dryer aimed around the center of the grilled section inside the rear of the freezer where the drain is located. Once I melted that area to where I could hear it draining out, I just allowed future defrosting cycles to finish the job. Worked perfect
