I did a quick connect conversion on my 2019 Road Glide Ultra. I pieced mine together instead of buying the Harley kit, saved about $250. Harley makes a license plate relocation mount that mounts to your tail light and sticks the plate straight up above the tail light. Basically the same spot as factory, just mounted to the fender/tail light instead of the bottom of the tour pack. I didn’t like the way this looks, throws off the lines/flow of the fender w/o the tour pac on. So I bought a curved mounting bracket off eBay, and a Ciro plate holder with the built in led light at the top. I mounted it below the taillight, and it looks great curved around the fender, then ran the wires for the light to taillight and spliced in. I took off the taillight and painted the clear window gloss black, but then put a chrome cover on it that covers the window anyway. Looks great, much better than stock whether tour pack is on or off.

Seemed easier to me just to unbolt the brackets and remove the entire TP brackets and all. Once off it was easier to take the TP off the brackets and then line it up on the new support and then secure it. I was amazed at the weight when I picked it up. Hoping this will improve low speed handling and parking. After two RG Specials and over a decade of riding them, it was a shock to find out how much an inch in height and that 50 lbs. setting up so high can impact low speed and parking control. Would 12" shocks be a mistake?
@Touringmidwest Жыл бұрын
12 inch shocks will affect ride comfort and of course clearance, but I think it’s doable if that’s what you like.

I have a 2015 Road Glide and am into refreshing my bike. Looking for replacement parts and accessories has been a little trying times. Do you strictly use Harley-Davidson accessories such as highway pegs, shift levers, mirrors etc. or do you use any aftermarket components? If so, who do you recommend. I researched many sites; Custom Dynamics, Dennis Kirk, and Kuryakyn just to name a few. I have also looked at accessories on Amazon but worry the prices are so low that the quality will suffer. The motorcycle parts suppliers I just mentioned seem to have prices that are all over the map. I guess my question is, who would you recommend to buy parts and accessories for my 2015 HD Road Glide that are decent quality but not overpriced? Any suggestions would be very helpful. Thank you
@Touringmidwest2 жыл бұрын
It really depends on what your looking for. I use aftermarket parts mostly. Lighting I have run custom dynamics, ciro and my headlamp is currently Advanblack. Painted parts I’m running Advanblack and HOGWORKZ. Audio is from soundz bagger audio. Exhaust is tab performance. Really it just takes allot of research, finding parts your interested in and than looking to find reviews to see if it’s good quality, how to install, etc. Amazon is hit or miss, in most cases I’d say you get what you pay for. There’s allot of good companies out there and good parts it just comes down to your style and what you like. Oh and don’t let anyone tell you what you should or shouldn’t do to your bike.. It’s your bike, do what makes you happy.
