How to remove trim in Pontiac G6 (Center Console)

yes!!! I've done the door handle parts the same, and I painted the chrome around my vents red, also the shifter insert (it started to flake and make my hand itch.. the whole reason I've done what I've done) but never knew how to to get this f 'er out! awesome! Thank you!!!

reid chandler how did you get the chrome part off on the vents? I want to do that with doing the door handles too maybe...

David Negron you have to take the vent pieces out. Grab a flashlight and Use a tiny flathead, there are three clip style pieces in each. Its a real pain, but do able. You have to lift one at a time on the inside of the vent, turn it, and so forth. It will start to come out. Hold onto it and continue working it. Once you get one out you'll see how they come apart. Also sanding the chrome down is a huge battle. But best wishes!!

So the white plastic rod that slides up and down and locks the ahifter in place . It moves but very hard wouldnt lock in and couldnt get key out. Now trying to fix what exactly needs done to get my shifter button to work again

How do you remove the trim on the inside part of the doors that are red?

On the driver door you have two TORX bit screws under the little black pad, peel back that rubber pad with a flat head to reveal them. Then remove them and the panel should pop out. Depending on your model you will have many electrical connectors (4 or 5) to unplug. Go ahead and unplug those and it should come out without an issue. For the passenger doors, the panels just pop right off. Starting at an edge, use a flathead and gently/evenly apply pressure and they should pop right off. sorry for the late response, the letters are an insert. once you remove the trim panel you will be able to see how those come out. If i remember correctly they actually just sit below the part that i painted red. they dont actually mount to it.

just in worried that my pieces are sort of gunnky a Lil bit like my passenger sides. so if I go ahead and just take them off and straight up prime them instead of sanding first just to avoid the work cause I don't want to buy a sander and don't want to sand by hand. the sander is because I don't want to spend too much money and obviously I think sanding by hand would take long.... so if I just went primer. paint . clear coat. would I be ok ???

David Negron I would sand them, but I don't know how bad the gunk is. I cleaned mine with rubbing alcohol (I didn't sand them), then primed, then painted.

someone at a carwash was able to clean the center one for me one time. I didn't know what he used. but it was like grayish blackish gunk . very flat on the surface so maybe that's what it was. maybe alcohol. so ill probably do that. alcohol. sand.prime.paint.clear. should do it. and any tips on if I wanted to do any underglows under the driver side and under the passenger glove box... any tips in going to re do a lot of my car. stereo too. just im worried about how I would wire that one lol
