How to remove vinyl lettering from a van

A quick guide to removing vinyl from a van.

I know this is 10 years old but a wallpaper steamer works so easy and that 1 letter you did would have come off within 2 minutes

From experience I would recommend using heat to start with just to get a bit of sticker lifting once you have enough loose to grab stop heating and the rest will pull off, too much heat causes the vinyl to go too stretchy and tear, once the vinyl is off you can remove the remaining glue with a solvent of your choice I have tried everything and found that paint thinner seems to work best, cover the glue with it, wait a couple of minutes then scrape it of with a plastic scraper and a cloth, tcut after that and you wouldn’t know a sticker had been there it’s a tedious job I know

Will the paint thinner not affect the paint on the car at all?

I don't think the paint thinner matters once the paint has dried. Its effective when its still wet though. If your decals have been on long enough, the paint is more than dry by the time its coming off.

heh that looked hard work. use a metal fish slice , like you use for frying. make sure it hasn't sharp edges then push that against the vinyl and heat . it will peel up..
