So we used our GoPro and I did what yo suggested and converted into .avi that is in GoPro software then I transfered to Sony. I'm still having same problem as my last 2 videos(not gopro) Where it is laggy. I tried doing proxy but it stopped at 94%. IS there a way to find my video BEFORE I rendered it? Once it rendered it became laggy even though I used 1080 and followed directions. I have all the setting you mention in this video. What other options do I have. If you look at last 2 video you see what I mean. I don't want to put up another video looking like this. I m so frustrated and sad I can't fix this. I don't know what else to do. Any other ideas? ***** If you did not match your media settings and used a different frame rate to what you recorded with, that can make playback jump around. I guess you recorded at 60fps. If you did, you should watch my tutorial for rendering to higher frame rates. If you are capturing gameplay that is jumping all around, this is very difficult to encode for KZbin. Use much higher Bit Rate settings, however this will also produce much higher file sizes.

I know that you made video similar to this one for Vegas, but could you please make short tutorial about how to render game clips? Hi Derek, after I've made a customized render template, can I add a shortcut to it or do I have to go to customized template each time I render a video to select it? What I mean is: when you first go to Make Movie, it shows up a few options. Is there a way I can show up my custom template?

I just rendered a 5 minute video using your settings. It took a while on CUDA. Would it be faster using CPU only or is it just the length of the video file? I have a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660. I built my computer from scratch 3 years a go.
@MovieStudioZen7 жыл бұрын
A GTX660 will not help accelerate rendering times. It is probably best to try CPU only. This forum thread will explain in more detail for you: www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-graphics-cards-gpu-acceleration-for-vegas-pro--104614/

Alan Macher That is weird. They aren't here. What I did was right click on the video clip then click on "Swtiches" then cliecked on Disemble Resample. It works. I do this step before I start editing. I stick the one big clip on the timeline then do this step. Then start cutting stuff out I don't want. It's easier and faster that way. It makes it more clear. I do not know what "Disemble resample" means but it works lol :)

You have a great computer! Considering what is your project, your render times sound normal to me. If you only have one hard drive, that could be a bit of a bottle neck, because it is having to read and write at the same time. Added on top of that, it is having to play back two video streams at the same time of the same drive. Have you ever tried rendering with Intel Quick Sync ? If you select Sony AVC/MVC and customize a template, you can set the ENCODE mode to Intel Quick Sync. If your computer is configured to use this, (some are not) you may see faster rendering speed.

***** Thanks for the response. I'm sorry, I am more a photography guy just dabbling in some 4k video now. I rechecked my camera settings. They are 4k. My problem arose when I imported the MP4 into Adobe Lightroom. It looks like Lightroom dumbed down the video to 1920x1080. After a straight copy to HDD from the SD card I now have a MP4 file 3840x2160 in Movie Studio 13. When I said "grayed out" I mean I can see the place to click "create video proxy" but it is non-clickable. I looks like you answered that problem above by saying that it is automatically done with 4k video. The preview window improved after making those changes. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for another informative video. I get that KZbin will only do 30fps but I want to keep my locally saved version at 60fps. Is there any disadvantage to uploading to YT at 60fps? Will it result in even worse quality than if I uploaded a 30fps file? Thanks
@slomotrainwreck10 жыл бұрын
That's a really interesting question, I've wondered about it myself. If I was really ambitious and have the time (I don't), I'd do a test of KZbin's re-rendering by uploading a small video with some fast moving action at both 60 & 30 fps and compare the two. I've heard both good and bad about KZbin's re-rendering but have never gotten around to testing.

***** I thought fps didnt affect file size?
@ScottishBattleAxe10 жыл бұрын
***** I'm a novice with all this but my simple test, and a ton of info I read online indicated that the only thing to noticeably affect file size is the bit rate. On my test the same file rendered to 60fps = 180Mb, to 30fps = 178Mb. Please enlighten me if there's something I'm not getting, as I said, I'm new to this.

I use shadowplay 1080p60fps (50mb) (GTX980) and when I'm editing the video in Movie Studio it looks OK. after rendering and playing it in VLC looks OK. but on KZbin when it's completed 1080p60fps it doesn't look as HD as when I recorded/watched after rendering. I render with Cuda. 59.94000 fps and 50mbs. is KZbin to blame or my movie studio? other youtubers Overwatch videos are really HD. using main concept avc

Action gives me 60 fps, and splits the audio but...: When I put the files into movie maker it takes a couple of minutes before building peaks is done. When I'm using fraps and dxtory I don't have this problem.. I hope you can help me out, but if you don't have Action then I don't think you know what the problem is :p. How do you set the default folder that the video will render to. I created one project where I have it Rendering to a specific folder, while a number of my other projects render to a subfolder within the folder where the project file is saved, but I don't remember how I configured it to render to that specific folder.
@SbgamingTv9 жыл бұрын
***** That's rather odd behavior, but it did work. For some of those projects I was indeed setting the output folder in the first window as well as the second folder, but apparently for that one project I hadn't, and therefore had no need to change it in future episodes in the series where I "save as'd" the previous project file to create a copy of the new one... It'd be nice if this was just simply a default output option where if you wanted to you could just specify as desired location where you want files to be rendered to, if you don't want to use the programs default location. I've done about 30 videos in the last two weeks and I've had this issue on about half of those videos, so it was getting rather irritating that I had to change the location for those videos where it wasn't outputting to the usual folder. Thanks for the help.

I've been trying to render a video for the past month and haven't been able: it comes out jittery like the person below states. I filmed with my Iphone 5S and was able to upload a video to youtube a few months ago with far less problems. How do I set the video to constant frame rate like you state below?
@MovieStudioZen8 жыл бұрын
If you are using video from an iPhone, you need to use a Video Conversion program and convert video to Constant Frame Rate before importing into Movie Studio. There are large number of Video Converters you can try. Handrbrake.fr has highest quality converter available.
@MovieStudioZen8 жыл бұрын
If you have the Platinum version, you should only be using the Platinum version now and not the basic! To open a project in the CORRECT version, you need to open manually. Open Movie Studio Platinum 13 and go to Project/Open - then navigate to your Movie Studio projects folder and open the project you want to work on. iPhone video is problematic for just about all Video Editing programs, because Apple being Apple has to do everything differently. If iPhone recorded at a constant frame rate there would not be a problem. Everyone has the same problem on Windows computers. On a Mac they make it easier.

Thanx Dex! That's clear, yes I searched for old tutorials of yours in fact, to remind me the settings, ok. ***** Appreciated my friend. I also noticed my old GT 545 was supported by Vegas but my 750Ti isn't and apparently the 980 and the 900 series isn't. Unfortunate, but anyways i'll try to upgrade through Platinum Suite 11, Sony might give me a discount or something lol, thanks again.

Ok so as I understood, If i make a gameplay which usually has 10-15 gb i can render it to way smaller sises and now upload it to youtube or was I wrong?

Great tutorial. If only KZbin wouldn't mess with the quality of my files. It looks much worse after YT processing. :(

Hey Derek, if I had a standard definition or dvd quality video in my project that I wanted to burn to blu ray disc, could that be done? Or would I have to render it to high definition before doing so?

Should I shrink my files before rendering? Will that increase the render speed, or should i just let Movie Studio do everything?

I'm having issues uploading my video to youtube. I've edited it and it's ready, but I have the Movie Studio Platinum 13 blue icon'd video, and then a file of the video in my folder. But neither work because they're not compatable at all. Is there a way to turn my edited version to an mp4 or something? I have windows 8, so it's different...maybe?

Upgrading from 12 to 13 I think is worth it for the rendering options and speed increase in editing. Especially when dragging and dropping video from directories on your PC to the timeline. Looking forward to more videos on editing and using V13. Have you done any work with 4K yet? MY GoPro 3+ Black now produces 4K in 15FPS so may have a play.... :-) ps Changing my Ram for 4GB back to 200MB DID increase render times for a video length of 7min 24sec from 12min 48sec to 11min 05sec.

What are you going to play it back on that would do it justice?? $30K plus TV ?

I'm trying to do Sony AVC. When I go check GPU it says no GPU available. I have a GTX 980. Quite a bit of wasted potential right now :/ Just to clarify GTX 980 is selected in the preferences right at the start of the video.

KiwiPowerNZ I have a new GTX 960 which I bought just for this, and like you, I found out it is not supported. Apparently Sony will not support cards that use Maxwell technology. I have just asked the Movie Studio Zen what is the best graphic card I can buy that will still be recognized by this software. Sony refused to give me a list of supported cards. (Adobe Premier does have one).

fabitas Yeah it's annoying, even more so for you because you bought the card just for rendering. I bought mine for gaming, so I'm not going to change to an old card just for rendering. CPU renders take almost an hour and the whole time I can't do any video editing and there's not really any CPU power left over to play a game while I'm waiting. All I can do is browse videos -_- I still have my old card, a 1GB Radeon 4870. I wonder how fast it would have rendered in OpenGL. I guess i'll never know.

After i Render my videosthe rendered video plays back with fps lags and drops throughout. " choppy " but the raw footage of clips play back absolutely perfectly. any idea whats causing this? recorded at 30fps then rendered using all options you pointed out in this video with the same result for all. any help is appreciated thank you!

1. Where did your original source video come from ? If it came from a mobile phone, that would be the cause of the problem and I can tell you how to fix that. 2. If you rendered the video with a "crazy high" Bit Rate, that can also cause this problem. If you need further help, I recommend you post your problem on my forum here: www.moviestudiozen.com/forum/index

2 Quick Questions. 1. I have a habit of converting all video taken in MP4 format converted to AVI before editing in Sony. Is this necessary? 2. A 1min 46sec 4K (3840 x 2160dpi) video is 569,639kb(MP4) and 4.762gb(AVI) at 12.5fps.!! how can I accurately stretch this to a 25fps PAL setting on the timeline? Would this be your option?
@Accolades7010 жыл бұрын
I use the Cineform software to convert yes. It Fixes up the edges of the video. I do not us ProTune. I suppose I could test. I do use one of the color correction features of Sony software for color correction.

Hey! It's been a long time, but I have a new question. I just got a Sony 4K camcorder, and I was wondering if you have any videos (similar to this one) showing how to render a video in 4K and not lose the quality (in Platinum 13)? I tried watching someone else's video, but it left me with more questions than answers.

Make sure you have installed build version #987, which was the final build version ever released for VMSP13. Go to Help/About to find what you have now. If you don't have #987, enter your Serial Number here and download/install. www.magix.com/us/support/my-service-center/product-downloads/ Someone on my forum has asked the same question as you. Please read my reply here, which will show you what to do. www.moviestudiozen.com/forum/movie-studio-platinum/2219-my-4k-video-edit-looks-worse-on-youtube-than-my-1080#11223

In reference to Proxy Video Creation I noticed in your preview window you have the setting of “Best Half” rather than the default “Preview (Auto)”. Does your setting also help produce a smoother play back? Also, if you “Add Media” as your project progresses should you then also do a Proxy on that clip or picture?
@alanmaynard359710 жыл бұрын
Derek, thanks I am in rough editing of 4 clips totaling 14G and it is getting a bit jittery. I will be lowering the Preview setting. Again, Thanks Alan
