Thanks for the Vid! But how can I Multicam with 2 Soundtracks per Video? One is desktop audio the other is the Microphone. Need this for gameplay with multiple persons. It only works with one of the two audiotracks :(

Appreciate the honesty in this video! Watched it on my TV while the computer renders a 20-minute video with Movie Studio Platinum 12! The notice to "upgrade" still pops up the very first time I boot the program (reminding me to un-check the Net Notify thing) which makes me wonder: If one "upgrades", do they lose access to the old version? I did not learn of the MAGIX takeover of Sony's old program until a few years ago, when my Movie Studio Platinum 12 gave me an activation error. I had to email them a long code, and their reply code allowed the software to activate. That has happened twice now - and every time I migrate this program to a new computer / fresh install of Windows I worry if this is the time I lose Movie Studio Platinum 12 for good. I bought a Windows 11 machine the other day - renders at nearly twice the speed as my old one. But Windows 11 is awful, so instead I upgraded the NVMe on my old machine and reinstalled Windows 10 again. Thankfully, the program successfully activated twice within the same week. I've had a MAGIX account for awhile now, and I can download the program from the "my products" section there (and it keeps track of my activation code) so that's good I suppose. The program has its quirks and still crashes time to time, but it was cheap (an old-stock eBay purchase around 2014) and a HUGE step up from Pinnacle whatever-it-was. Anyway, I wrote all this for anyone who may find it. The old programs are still in the wild, doing good for their owners. 1080p 60fps video is enough for me, for now. Maybe down the road I'll try out MAGIX's more current offerings. But for now, I'm hanging onto my decade-old program with a steel grip.

I had this problem in a big way. Was editing a music video and of course the video of a singer had to be in sync with the music. The extreme lagginess and jumpy playback made syncing impossible. I then discovered that by creating Proxy files of all the videos in the timeline (they were all huge 4K files) the problem disappeared and playback was normal with no jittering or lagging. I'm using Vegas Movie Studio 17 Platinum, on a HP Omen 25L gaming computer and HP 4k monitor. After first changing the display window to Draft > half (Go to the round Options button on top of the display window to change this setting) Then go to Options on the top left main toolbar > Preferences > Video > click on 'Automatically create video proxies for HD video' ---- this could take some minutes as it is converting your HD files to manageable smaller files that won't chew up CPU. These are only used by the program while you edit and playback in the monitor. While in the same window see the Dynamic Ram Preview box - change this to about one third of your total Max Available. If the Max Available is indicating 30,000 MB - change the Dynamic ram to 10,000 These changes will NOT affect your render quality.

Please don't play music over instructional videos. It is extremely distracting and unnecessary. The narration is drowned out and makes it hard to concentrate on the message.

Thanks for the tutorial. After watching the 1/3 of video, I pretty much learned everything I needed to know. The remaining part is something one can figure out for himself. It´s the TRACK MOTION tool that I wasn´t familiar wit. But now thanks to U I can put together more scenes into one video. Bravo!! :)

hi dr zen! :) i've got an idea. if you don't see anything on your go pro's audio track just right click on it then choose the "switches" in the menu what jumps up then choose "normalize". then you'll see the graphics on the audio track to use for synching. easy-peasy, problem solved. and when you're done with synching just switch it off :)

Thank you for this. I had been creating some test renders using Movie Studio rendering to HEVC and was wondering if the final result could be better (it is already very good) despite using extremely "slow" settings. My reasoning is that I came across a well written article that showed practical examples of HEVC vs VP9 encoding and to my eyes the VP9 seemed noticeably better at comparable bitrates in a similar way that HEVC looks better than H.264 at comparable bitrates. I am yet to try some DNxHD to Handbrake to VP9 renders to compare the exact same material but I have done quick test using your instructions and it certainly works perfectly. So this is what I will be doing over the coming days. It will be interesting to see if the additional steps to render a delivery file in VP9 via Movie Studio DNxHD is worthwhile over simply staying in Movie Studio and sticking to HEVC. The problem of course is that Movie Studio is rather restricted in what it can accept and what it can render to - actually I have noticed pretty much every bit of hardware and software on the market is fussy about what it ingests and what it spits out! Movie Studio 15 could accept ProRes if Quicktime was installed and apparently the latest versions will not!

Hopefully someone sees this. Movie Studio 17 isn't opening on my laptop. I have an alienware computer and I have produced and rendered tons of projects. Now all of a sudden the program won't even open so I can get work done. Can somebody tell me what's going on?

I'm new to Vegas Pro. To clarify since some time has passed since this was published... 1. Can I render just one of many chapters within a project? 2. If you have Chapters, will it automatically have them when you render as KZbin 1080p, then later burn the file to a DVD? 3. On a DVD that is Rendered as mentioned above, can you take a remote and advance between chapters? 4. Lastly, will the chapters show up in the Menu like a movie and or have the name of each chapter I assigned. Some of this is different but still trying to follow along to apply your tutorial to my VP 17 and situation, Thanks!

Great tutorial, TY. Is four, the maximum number of cameras that can be synced this way? And what happens if one is using four cameras, and has a master audio track. You initially mentioned this, but then abandoned the master audio track and continued the tutorial using just four cameras w/ their associated audio tracks. 12/11/2023

I keep having the problem that once I undock the stuff, and then put it back in the dock, the tabs at the bottom of the docking station don't return. I have slid and poked and prodded and searched youtube and the internet and still can't figure out how to make the tabs visible again.
