What a blessing to have this healthy fat in our pantry! Beef tallow can be used for baking, deep frying, and sautéing. It’s also a stable fat that can be left at room temperature without going rancid. Beef tallow is loaded in vitamins, minerals, AND can actually help you burn fat. It’s easy to render yourself. You just need a slow cooker and some clean jars.

I paused this video just to make this comment. Willow is one of my all-time favorite movies! Anyone who can quote that movie is worth watching and gleaning from!

I pour the finished product into 9x13 glass bakeware. Let it cool, and then cut them into inch squares. I put the whole thing into the freezer for a bit. I pull it out and break off the chunks. I fill up an old country crock container with some tallow and keep it the fridge. The rest goes into zip locks and back into the freezer. Whenever i need oil, i just grab a chunk or 2 out of the fridge

Great video. I love using beef tallow. When we bought our 1/4 cow, I asked for the fat to be saved and the owner gave me hers as well. I won't have to buy canola or olive oil for a long time. I have them in my pantry and still use them, but the tallow is used for frying foods like chicken tenders or french fries. I also use the tallow or bacon grease for my breakfast in the morning. Thanks for the video.

Hi! Do you add water when you render the fat? I’ve seen some recipes call for it, but I’ve also heard it can cause it to go rancid faster than without.

Thank you for doing this tangie. I had been around when lard had been made but I never realized tallow was so similar and probably should have. Just from knowing that do you cook this last long so you don't end up with like cracklins or is it just the same

This stays refrigerated, right? What does it hold pretty well in the cupboards? How long does it last? Also, I have some frozen vet that I used to grind up some venison a few months ago. Is that still good to use?

What is the best meat to make Tallow since this info was not included?

Tallow is rendered from fat, not meat; any fat from the animal (beef/cattle/deer = tallow; pork = lard; chicken/goose/duck = schmaltz) is what she’s talking here. They do say, however, that the best tallow (in terms of health benefits and taste) is rendered from suet which is the fat that surrounds the vital organs such as the heart and kidneys. Hope this helps.

@@missbiggs9437when you pour the tallow into the jars do you close with lid immediately so they seal or let it cool then close normally? Thank you . I usually freeze mine but ran out of room. Want to store it in a dark spot in the basement.
@missbiggs9437
@missbiggs9437 3 ай бұрын
@@Bluegrass-Lawncare-LLC I’m no expert but after pouring into the jars I wipe the rims, put the lids on and leave them to cool down. When they have cooled completely I put the bands on. They always form their own vacuum seal, I’ve not had to mechanically seal them. I keep mine in the refrigerator and have not had any problems with them.
Do NOT Cook with This!!!
