I had a video of a podcast that lasted about an hour 45. Trying one of the presets kept getting me large 8 gig files that would tie up my connection for hours if not days. Your preset gave me a gig, which is much easier to handle. Thanks!

I don't know about you but i see big downgrade in the quality, it become very pixely and very blury. Meh but i guess you don't have a choice if your video is large and your internet sucks.

Perfect! Step by step, easy to understand, squashed a video file from 81MB down to 24MB with no big loss in quality. I found the bit rate reduction to 2,000,000 was a bit heavy and caused some blocky artifacts, so I set that to 4,000,000.

I did what you said... I rendered one 50min episode with AVC MP4 and it was 2.88GB i did exactly the same settings for WMV and it was 1.56GB... I don't quite get how you managed smaller files with MP4

This helped a lot. I use 720p and the only thing I changed was setting the FPS to 60 (cause 25-30 is unbearable) and a 14-15 min video is only 200MB (before it was around 1.5GB and the 420p 60FPS was around 900MB)

Is it possible that Sony Vegas can lock on to a specific file size like 1GB ? cause i recorded a 18 minute video which was 450 MB. But after editing and cutting the video i got a 16 minute video but the file size increased to 1.60GB and this is not the first time it happend :/

Questions: Note 1: How much was the file size in the start, before the rendering? Note 2: You kept the WMV file as 5,000,000 whereas the MP4 file was reduced to 2,000,000?

Well, I must've done _something_ wrong. The file WAS much smaller-- as a TINY little box, surrounded with a huge black border. I can't crop it to fit the whole screen. I followed your instructions EXACTLY, but I'm also using Sony Vegas Pro 16, I don't know if that makes a difference. This is so frustrating. I used to use Handbreak to shrink it and make it an MP4, but it tends to make the video sound or look like shit. I email these smaller videos to myself, so I could post them on Instagram or Twitter. I even tried different apps and methods to crop it to fit the whole screen, but it's SUCH a pain, I can't get it to fit just right, so I've given up at this point. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Reduced the Sony to 2m but didn't reduce the WMV, left it at 5m, the final Data rate size is more than half as big, 3 times as big, 2m -5m & 1421kbs - 5050kbs, 2.22mb - 6.19mb same ratio for all 3, ya can't reduce one but not the other then be surprised it's smaller

Dude, what is "Resample" and what does disabling it do?

Resampleing is how the Computer grows an image, it baisically takes the pixels on an image and copy/pastes them where they need to be. If you disable the Resample and you make your image larger, it'll start to look super pixleated.

I am new with Vegas and I had problems with uploading 8+mb video to my web page. I did mess about video settings and I get 28mb file :) So with this helpful video of yours I get my 10 sec video size first to 2mb but I after that I get higher bitrate from 2m -> 4m so quality was little better (video is to run as ad in tv stand on one my customers thru RasberryPi and hard coded web page) :) Thanks about this video.
