How to renew passport from UK| All you need to know

Thank you so much for this video. I will be renewing my passport here in UK. Can you tell me what address i have to fill in annexure E. Will it be my indian address or my local uk address? I dont have any change in address. Same address as in the old passport is to be filled in the new passport. Also i want my indian address to be filled in the new passport.

All the address in the document should be your India address unless specified to update your UK address. You may also receive a declaration from from VFS which would ideally be your UK address yet in case VFS officers updated that in their system.

Thank you for your valuable comment. Regarding your question, there is no form and police verification will be done post submition of your details in the vfs center. In my case, my father went to the police station after few days (based on the passport status) with a copy of my Aadhaar card, copy of my passport, copy of the application details (ARN), fathers Aadhaar card to show he is my father. If you have a family member staying with you please add the persons contact details else it would be any of your colleague or friends or could also be your housemate / flatmate, neighbour, etc. one of the reason is incase of your absence to the passport can be given to the contact provided. Ideally local contact.

Thanks !! There are no issues if the visa stamped in the older passports. Best to carry both your passport (old and new).

Hi, Thank you so much for such amazing information. I have a couple of questions regarding my passport renewal. Last year, I updated the address on my Aadhaar card. For my appointment at VFS, would I bring the original physical Aadhaar card, or will a soft copy or photocopy be enough? Original documents are mandatory as per Passport website. Now you do have an option to download the e-aadhaar from UIDAI website if you don't have it handy yet this question should be confirmed with the VFS center. Regarding your second question your original Visa, Passport and BRP is mandatory. If you have a letter or certificate from Uni or College that would be good. As mentioned in the video, it all depends on the VFS officer at the counter on documents would be asked to present yet I noticed they are quite helpful.

I did not have a name change in my passport and it's only a additional of my wife's name. I believe for your specific question, if there is a name change then you need to apply for a new BRP maximum within 3 months of the change. You could find more info on the UK government website. Thanks for asking the question. You could renew the India passport yet better to check through the Indian embassy due to its legal issue as staying in the country with an expired visa might get into lot of complications. If you have copy of local address proof do take along with you and VFS officer will update you in case you need to self attest. In my case I was asked to self attest.

I was asked to show the original passport of my spouse for verification and shared 2 copies of the same to the VFS team. Better to take the original passport of your spouse. The visa copy was not asked in my case. Ideally all of these depends on the person who is validating your information and there could be minor changes.

No BRP was asked. Well if your query is on adding your spouse information, that is a process currently in place yet they only need the passport information and marriage certificate ( original to show and carry 2 copies of the same to share) and nothing else. Police verification will only be required if you are changing anything else for example : house address.

Absolutely. Do check if you are eligible to raise the Tatkaal scheme else Tatkal is a faster service and rest everything remain the same. Additionally you can check - 6:08 in the video for information to add.

It's all depends on what center you have updated while selecting. Additionally depends on which is easier for you while travelling. Looking at the map I see London a bit closer.

Honestly, I am not 100 percent sure on the answer yet I have seen multiple senior citizen and even elderly citizens in wheel chair at the vfs center. To be clear better to connect with the vfs center or High Commission of India, London office.

Ideally it should be verification first and then receive the passport as police verification is a mandatory tick mark. In my case my dad went to the station, provided the information and it was approved/ updated in the passport portal the next day and i received the passport after 3 days of approval.

Verification happens in India. Hence suggest to add your family or blood relatives number. Best suggestion would be if someone in India could go to the registered police station with your details along with Aadhaar card and some document to show your relationship if it's extended family.

"Other address" ideally is your local address (UK address). Definitely you can choose Tatkal or normal passport service
