How to Repair a Car Door Handle Kia Hyundai

How to repair a car door handle. This process will work for the following at minimum..
Kia Sorento Door handle, Kia Spectra Door handle, Kia Forte Door handle, Hyundai Sonata Door handle, Hyundai Accent Door handle,
Honda Accord Door handle, Honda Civic Door handle
For most of these, there is no need to remove the door panel.

Thank you for this. My local Kia dealer quoted us $384 to do this exact thing! They said the part was $140 and the rest was labor because they had to "take the door panel off". I bought the entire handle online for $30 shipped and followed your instructions which took all of 10 minutes.

I’m looking for some further help. My door handle stopped working a couple weeks ago so I ordered a new door handle to do this replacement. However I discovered that that didn’t resolve the issue so as I looked further into it I think it may be the latch on the inside that clasps to the door handle ? So as I looked it up the car part is called the “handle base”. Do you have a video or any suggestions on replacing that for a Kia Forte 2013 drivers side exterior door? At least I think that’s what it may be ? I am a novice and maybe this is something that needs to be taken in for…? Any suggestions? Thanks. And thank you for the helpful and informative videos.

2017 Sorento doesn't have the rubber access port on the side of the door so you have to take off the inside panel. I didn't buy a new part... I just imbedded the metal but I'm JB Weld and built up around it. I figure my "improved" part will likely hold up better than the original

First time, clean looking channel. Please HELP, 2016 KIA FORTE 5, door pocket lights only dim after 15 sec and will not go out. 1. Car is new too me. 2. Welcome lights box is uncheked in gauge cluster. 3. All other lights function correctly, and are off. 4. Key FOB is out of range. 5. PROBLEM PERSIST/STARTED FOR 2 days now. 6. Maintence at dealer doesn't have electrical tech on weekends. I have seen this problem rarely online, but no one ever goes back and updates the fix.

Go to Autozone. They do a free diagnostic with the computer. Will tell you quickly if the issue is a particular part or sensor

Great video. Unfortunately, the access hole doesn't exist on the 2017 Sorento. They keep engineering ways to make car repair expensive.

2007 kia spectra5 does not have the access cap either.. the screw is not angled either.

@@flannelguydiy6458 The handle part looks very similar to yours except the cap on the back which keeps the handle from going backward to lock in or out.. It looks like yours "nut" is angled back to allow access through the access hole on the end of the door. Mind is exactly perpandicular to the end cap and door. I am going to pull my door panel this weekend and see if there is an access hole under the door panel. I wish the hole was on the end like your video shows. My wife has a 2007 Santa Fe which I looked and it HAS the access hole on the end of the door. I think maybe the Hyundais have the hole possibly. Once I get into my door panel and see what is going on, I will update here..

I don;t think so. I think they might have just given the part to you because it is so random/not often purchased. That has been my experience with them. So I checked DOOR HANDLE (OUTSIDE) $9.95 It would be more parts that needed, but it is 10 bucks cheaper and I could have had it in hand in 30 minutes. There are several of these make/models in my Pull A Part yard.

Nice job. If the piece that broke off is still intact and was a clean break. Try the super glue and baking soda trick to glue it back on. Then you will have a spare!

Lenie Hulse You apply super glue and sprinkle baking soda on it and it instantly hardens. It creates a very string bond.

@@Dominic.Minischetti there's so much chemistry going on with the sodium bicarbonate and super glue trick. the chain reaction happens at a molecular level and is known as polymerization. you're basically creating a plastic. it's an exothermic reaction so there is energy released when doing this. if you have an infrared thermometer you'll see that the temperature of the adhesive+baking soda will get incredibly hot then rapidly return to room temperature. it's a very cool reaction.

Kia noticed how easy this was in this models and of course didn’t add that little whole ob there next models like the sorento 2019. They did it only for the front doors.. smart. Now kia charges with labor 489$.

you simply unscrew it from the inside just the same way you saw me remove the gold screw in the video. The video was to repair a BROKEN handle by the way. Glad I could answer your question in the comments.
