Thank you for this. My gazebo has exactly the same break and I was contemplating taking it to the dump tomorrow but decided to give KZbin a try and I found your video! It won't be going to the dump now. I am going to give your method a try 😀

Thinking about doing something similar. Planning on using 3/4 oak. Rip a 3/8” out of it. And round off the corners. Then drill the hole in the center and the ends. If it works I will post. Those brackets are approx. 3/4 wide and 3/8 thick.

All wood warps at some point. Especially since the would is so thin. Just a thought.
