For those that don't understand why, applying the Teflon tape against the direction you screw in a nut or bolt will likely cause unraveling, reduced sealing or shredding. As you screw in the nut connector, the force will be working against the direction of the tape. It'll cause the tape to bunch up, wrinkle or potentially unravel which won't create a good seal.

Thank you so much in my journey to replace the valve water valve I accidentally somehow took off that little black rubber cone that's supposed to be inside the supply line I just saw it as you were talking about it thanks a lot I put it the cone back in and hopefully it's working now 😁 Update yes it works no More water spilling out of the supply line you saved me a trip to the store haha thx again 😁

Sometimes it can be an illusion and your fill valve can be leaking, so it’s better to shut off the water and see if the leak continues. If it does continue your fill valve connection needs a new gasket or replacement, I had mine, where the fill valve, that connection, as well as the can you stop we’re all messed up. This is why you do not put chemicals in the tank of your toilet, especially if they’re on a second floor, but when your water comes from a source down below, any kind of leak can cause things to migrate with gravity and different materials to deteriorate down below I believe it’s enough to even put chemicals in your tapwater. If you drink tapwater, and have an issue like this, you could make yourself or somebody else sick and not even know it.

Whaaaaat?! But you put the tape on counterclockwise. And I thought we didn’t need to do that with compression fittings but I guess I learned something new today

@@jonathanhill6005 It was definitely threaded backwards. The tape should always be wrapped in the same direction you would be screwing in the fitting.

I replaced the water supply line even used plumbers tape as recommended. The leak is at the base of the toilet at the back where the water supply line connects. The leak happens when i turn the water line back on...any advice?

@@thomasa9184 yes I bought a new toilet valve kit (universal) the rubber seal between the toilet tank and the supply line was worn out
