We had the pressure control fail at my apartment complex a couple years back. They replaced a section of leaking water main and the sediment it kicked up busted the control system. Maintenance said 4 water heaters blew out immediately, then a couple more every day after until they got it fixed. Blew my faucet mounted water filter to bits (spraying out the seams) and the toilet would splash up the side and out from under the lid when filling. Pipe in the stairwell with a pressure gauge on it was reading around 150. Showers were glorious though, and the top load washer filled in just over a minute, and I'm on the top floor at the end of the run!

Wow! My secret to a good flowing shower has nothing to do with changing my water pressure and causing problems. I go and get the el cheapo, all metal shower head from Home Depot. Take the head off the ball part and drill out the ball part a bit (it's chrome plated brass). Beautiful flow and it doesn't clog up

@@FixIt1975 I bought a double head one off Amazon with no flow restrictor in it. I think all the ones sold in stores have to be low flow in some capacity. Pretty sure this one would get you shot in CA. With the high pressure the drain could hardly keep up with the flow.

Just a matter of time before something gives way and floods the house with that 110PSI. Modern, crappy, plastics and rubberized hoses are not designed for such static pressure. With such static pressure whenever you get any sort of, even mild, hammer the pressure spikes to crazy numbers.

I just had this same problem. The fill line was leaking at both ends. The fill shut off valve would leak once it was moved to off or open! Went to house main gate valve to shut off. It started to leak when I closed it. Had city cut off water at the meter and called my plumber. New valves. Main is proper ball valve now. New toilet shut off valve, new flex line and fill valve. Decided to get a new toilet 🚽 and get the o-ring replaced. The floor settling probably caused my solid fill line issues and I didn’t trust my old wax ring anymore either. Simple leaks get expensive fast.

why did you not put a solid soft copper supply line back on?
@spencerwilton58313 жыл бұрын
Indi Lestari because a cheap braided hose is a virtual guarantee of another job - replacing it again- a few years down the road.
@he-got-a-new-mommy3 жыл бұрын
@@spencerwilton5831 you are probably right. I have seen too many flex hoses get leaks. When I install my soft copper line to the toilet I use a brass nut for the connection to the fill valve, the plastic ones crack often.

He likes the pressure, till he has to start replacing water heaters, piping and taps every second year, then he will want the valve in.

well you cant warranty any of the stuff you put in, the supply likes are only rated for Like 80 pounds, if he wants a floor he can warranty that, not you

What happens with those solid toilet supply lines is people cut them just to fit, and then they put pressure up on the fill valve and the actual inlet pipe and valve, and it ends up leaking, we actually had no locking nut on the upstairs toilet fill valve in the old house, the shut off didnt work, the toilet became loose and would literally push the fill valve up and let the water leak, the leaking was worst when you'd sit on it, but the downstairs toilet was also faulty it would always run, bought 1 new fill valve, 2 flexible supplies, and 2 flappers, did the downstairs toilet first and then went upstairs and put the nut from the old downstairs one on the upstairs toilet fill valve, installed a new flexible supply line and it was good to go, never had another issue, for 4 years, haven't seen the new owners that bought the house in october replace toilets yet so my guess is they're still good to go.
