Cover Stain is brilliant. If you can leave it dry for a full 24 hours it really locks in the stain. The only place I won't use it, is in high humidity bathrooms. The reason is it doesn't breathe and the moisture gathers on the surface of the top coat and then runs down the walls and leaves streak marks It can also cause mildew over time. In bathrooms I use Zinsser 1-2-3 and apply two coats over the stained ceiling. First coat leave for 24 hours to lock in the staining. The tope with matte or egg shell top coat.

When using cover stain do you spot prime the cover stain before painting everything else?
@danielnugentpainteranddeco557 Жыл бұрын
Yes you can do. But I usually do 2 coats after anyway
@AlfGuitar Жыл бұрын
So just two regular coats over the whole ceiling and it’ll be okay?

I've filled and then used Cover Stain previously, so would that create a potential issue? Thanks

Either way around is fine.

Why the oil based cover stain and not the 123?
@danielnugentpainteranddeco5572 жыл бұрын
I find it a better product as I've used the water based 123 and stains came back through where this dries so quick and can be painted over with water bands paints. It's just personal preference. Cheers Dan

Hi Daniel. That cover stain can be really thick. Do you use that neat? x
@danielnugentpainteranddeco5572 жыл бұрын
Hi. Yes sometimes or you can thin it down with white spirits aswell. All depends on what surface etc. Cheers Dan

You done a nice job of the filling,but havn't showed how you done that??
@danielnugentpainteranddeco5572 жыл бұрын
I basically use a caulking board and I like the Gyproc Easyfill 20 because it goes off quick so I could sand it down the same day. For sanding I use the Mirka Dustless Sanding System which is a game changer with a 120 pad. I always do a couple of skims of the filler. Cheers Dan
@geoffreymeare34062 жыл бұрын
OK thanks for that.Nice to see a video maybe sometime making those bad areas good again with the easy fill.
