Photography And More thanks for this video. I bought this when it came out and put it away years ago thinking my battery was low. My daughter expressed interest in film cameras and having forgotten the error, I filmed up and then disappointed her when the error popped up. Researched the error in the manual and assumed I was in for a factory service. That would have run me $350. So this could not hurt I figured! And I was right, but more importantly you were right. I tapped the magnet and it fires away! Thanks so much!

I have an EOS-3 with similar problems. I have the “b c” error, but my shutter still fires sometimes. It isn’t fully locked like others I’ve seen reported. So then I tried everything you said to try first in this video, but with no luck fixing it. Then I got some very strong neodymium magnets and tried to fix it without disassembling. I was able to get the shutter to fire fairly normally with the magnets stuck onto the camera, but as soon as I take the magnets off the camera then the shutter locks again. Then I tried leaving the magnet on the camera and I fired the shutter a couple of hundred times to see if that would unstick it. No success. Then I disassembled and tried both tapping on the shutter magnet quite rigorously and using the neodymium magnets directly on the shutter magnet and sadly the problem still remains and the problems are still the same as before, which is that it fires sometimes after multiple presses on the shutter. And if I put magnets in the right spot on top of the the shutter magnet from the outside then I can still get the shutter to fire multiple times continuously. So it sounds like my issue isn’t the standard problem since all the usual fixes have had no useful effect. I guess the problem is potentially more serious and probably not worth trying to fix from a cost perspective?

Thank you so much for this video! After trying the third method it seems to work better at least, but it still has the same error as before every 2-10 frames or so, but just pressing the shutter again works like normal. Any idea why this could be happening, and if there are any good solutions?

For me it was my EOS-M42 adapter that was pushing up a small black pin on the left inside lens housing. Filed down one of the flanges on the adapter and no more bc error.

Hi, Chris S. I hope you'll see this message. I found your comment and this is what is giving me the error. However, my pin snapped off at some point from the same M42 adapter. Do you happen to know what position the pin is meant to be in and what to do about the adapter? I still have the pin (thankfully), I only need to reattach it. Many thanks if you can help me figure this out.
@MrSamischris2 жыл бұрын
@@Edyn1211 hello. the black pin should be in the lower position. As for the EOS-M42 adapter I did not have a permanent solution even with filing the adapter down as I still have the bc error. It seems these EOS-1 models only like native lenses. Hope this helps..
@Edyn12112 жыл бұрын
@@MrSamischris The weird thing for me is that it shoots fine without a lens even with the broken pin. I will try to reattach it with some really strong glue and check if that helps, as it fired alright with the lens on before the pin broke off. I researched some forums from 2010, where one user suggested that the pin, when pushed into the upper position, tells the camera that a lens is mounted. My adapter has the chip as well, so the camera was even able to give me proper focus detection. The only thing that didn't work well with the chip was the aperture. The f/ number would flicker constantly and couldn't be properly set, so the metering would go crazy too, but that can be fixed by taking the chip off and metering separately. I will give an update once I fix the pin.

We have this camera , power is ok, buttons that you press to change setting , shutter button - everything works , just not with adapter and lens, it gets an error or the shutter release does not complete , the shutter gets stuck half way and doesnt complete process when you press shutter button.- then i have to press again so the shutter goes backup . it only goes back up when i press it the second times With out the lens / adapter on , it works / fuctions , all the buttons work. Will it work with a canon lens , i dont have a canon or eos compatible lens. Would it be the adapter / lens not comunication or is something damaged / not working. Thank you.

Hello QQwerty, I think it is best to first test the camera with a Canon EOS lens to see if it is the adapter or the camera that is failing.
@chriss42433 жыл бұрын
It's the EOS adapter. I had to file the flange down to stop it from pushing up the black little pin on the left side of the lens hosuing. Works now..

Hi, I have got EOS 3 and I get the BC error message but not after I press the shutter button but right after I turn the camera on. The only time the LCD shows any info is when I gently depress the shutter button just a little down (not fully) otherwise it is always blinking. The camera was barely used. Is this something fixable? The camera doesnt make any sound at all. It just blinks this BC. Oh and the batteries are freshly bought 2 days ago.

Has anyone attempted a full disassembly to clean the magnet? Is it easy/hard? Giving the magnet/camera a thump works for me but issues comes back every day or so. I'd love to attempt a more permanent solution
@timklepper63985 жыл бұрын
You don't have to disassemble the camera, just give a hard knock on the part at 7:53 What sucks is that my camera does this every time when I start shooting, If anyone knows a perminate solution please say how.

You may have this issue fixed by now. I have a number of EOS-1(X) and there is a magnet inside, front left of body. That magnet needs to be cleaned. If you feel good about disasembling the body then it is an easy fix.

@yskmotion36012 жыл бұрын
@@dzava mine was the same, eventually it'll appear after a while, i solved it by just taping a piece of magnet on the small circular dot under the shutter button but i think it messes with the shutter speed a bit, you just have to experiment and find the right magnet with the right strength
