would latex 108 help if the exposed patch is sandy? i have small patches where the paint peeled off and it's sandy. i'm afraid the cement won't stick to the old surface.

@@willwen6600 hey glad to get comment even after 1 year. I'm also receiving this wall problem. But to counter this issue. Spray some water on it before plastering with premix cement. Premix have finer powder than self mix. If you need mix it yourself. Buy yourself some finer sand to workaround. Before slapping on the wall. Scoop some to your scraper and turn it around letting the cement mix hang upside down. If it doesn't hang. Means your mix is too watery. You just gotta find the balance

Bhaijan I repaired myself in 2018 still no issues. But applied 2 layers paint of iron before doing plaster. Recommended by a KZbin video

That new concrete will fall shortly. It won't last long and the reason is because when you patch with concrete, you have to prepare the old concrete first. New concrete don't bond with old one very well so you need a bonding agent like Bullbond Sabakrete for example.

@willwen6600 Of course, just make sure you use a good bonding agent. Many people uses the blue one because is cheaper but the yellow one with texture helps the new concrete bond much better

There is alot of misinformation here. You cannot repair spalling concrete with just cement but must use a specialised form of polymer modified cement which is meant for such issue. Proportion of water to polymer cement is also important. It also helps if you cold galvanised the rusted exposed bars first. If you just use cement with water mixture, it will pop and drop down in a short time.😆😆😆

We are tired of dealing with unreliable contractors, people who tend not want to do inconvenient works, and in the end then often being overcharged. We will learn.

Repairing this chipping ceiling requires a lot. You will be needing chemicals to eliminate or prevent rust getting into the rebars. You also need a polymer material to bond with the cement.
@rrandor1 Жыл бұрын
new cement doesnt bond with old cement. Bonding agent must be used. Rebar should be treated to stop rust.

Also remaining rebar must be checked, or fresh rebar with overlapping is required

The reason why that part of the ceiling collapsed is beacause of the corrosion from the metal bar. Over time corrsion wil continue to build from the metal and that part of concrete will collapsed again. You should have put rust converter on the metal bar to neutralized the corrossion and paint it with expoxy primer to protect the metal from corossion before you patch it with cement....

Use angle grinder with a steel wool brush to take off rust. Vacuum dust from the concrete. Then, brush/ roll on a cement adhesive first. And DON’T spray water on the damaged area ever.

Did you use any specific types of cement for the patch work? We live in Hyderabad, Telangana, and had to do a similar patchwork for our old ceiling. It is very tedious and takes a lot of time and effort. Did you use any specific types of cement for this repair? If so, can you provide the name and if it is available locally here. Thanks

What breathable adhesive did you add to the ceiling after the concrete ?
@Cyberdemon19855 ай бұрын
Before you apply the cement, you need to brush the area with a bonding agent. Let it cure for 20 minutes then make ans apply the cement. When using the cement use your hands (wearing rubber gloves) to get the cement tight in the area. Then smoothe it out with the trowel.

Good job but not totally correct. You didn't apply anti-rust chemical on rebar and also didn't apply liquid-form cement to increase adhesiveness when you apply cement mixture to fill the crack.

You have to apply hv coat to those old concrete first. You should not spray water onto that patch. That will loosen your new cement. First of all this is not the cement to use There is another type of cement with epoxy.
