Thanks! I was up against a time limit to fix a mechanism I’d broken whilst assembling a clock and your video was a really clear example. Got me going again!

would powdered graphite, as used in lock mechanisms, be better because it wont gum up in the future like oils do?

My clock is slightly different but using this video, I managed to fix it. I think it mainly needed oiling on the first cog near the coil after over a decade of running. Thank you

I would also take the opportunity to tin the battery contacts on the circuit board with solder. I've found that in a lot of old clock movements that have stopped working, the pads become badly corroded, covered with copper oxide (green powder). A layer of solder would protect the pad.
@babusriramambari57922 ай бұрын
Do not use high power batteries. Use simple low cost battery. This makes a hole on the battery plate contact on the tiny printed circuit board track. Repair it with a thin aluminium foil suitably cut and placed. Patch soldering not possible.

There is no need to grease its gears, the main problem usually is the battery contact point to the PCB.

If you did this process in an order, that would be better video. You taking all the gears out and placing one piece on top of the other doesn’t not help a person who has no experience. Of course, unless this video is for people who already know how to fix it
