Apex Detail do you have a “one size fits all” polisher for a weekend warrior and occasional detailer? I have a torqx and it’s not quite powerful enough. I was thinking a 15mm throw for a more general use but would a 21 be better and to also use the torqx sometimes?

Greenie_The _Detailer I use Meg’s microfiber pads and will probably have to try some of those eurofiber pads

Greenie_The _Detailer I can normally 1 step with d300 and the microfiber cutting pad. Even on a 2002 Kia that’s never been polished before had wonderful results. Followed up by turtle wax hybrid solutions coating. Good stuff

Did you guys try lake country pads they have bunch of different pads I tried lamb wool cutting pad with sonax cut Max they work really good.. Im wondering if anyone else had chance to try them out... This channel is one of the best but chrisfix actually explains things a little bit better when it comes to some of the scratch removal process.... example was doing a wet test to see how deep the scratch is. If it’s just cut through the clear coat and compound, polish and wax isn’t enough to smoothen the lines in the clear coat, you gotta sand it down using 2 different types of sand paper 3000 and 5000.... the. Polish and wax.... If it’s a deep scratch and it is straight cuts into the primer, your only two choice is touch up paint, wax Or get the entire panel to be repainted which is expensive..... apex doesn’t really delve into that.... but I still love these folks content

Great video! The only thing I do different is after sanding, I apply a very thin line of clear coat to the scratch and let it dry for 24 hours. Then I level the clear with a leveling solution before one more light sand with 3000-4000 before I polish out the area. It takes a little more time having to wait 24 hours, but the scratch will actually be filled by clear. On a side note, GM touchup paint has a built in container of clear on the opposite end of the paint tube. You simply apply a thin layer with to soft foam applicator that is included with the touchup paint. I do the same process with paint chips.

I have a 370Z with the Magnetic Black(G-41) finish that has been corrected and ceramic coated with Opti-Coat Pro + and yes, scratches like that are truly hideous on that kind of finish. That info about wet sanding is most helpful for those of us who don't want to go to the body shop, where every paint defect solution is a complete repaint of the entire panel.

Excellent job I call that softening up the scratch. That works really good on the door something like that not to go out on the hood or on a faring or a gas tank of a motorcycle. I don’t know if you do it but I’ve already use the soft clearcoat touched up a scratch blocked it and buffed. It works sometimes , what are your thoughts on that have you ever done that? Very helpful video. This just happened to my truck 2 days ago. Except in my case, it's the entire passenger side of my Nissan truck. Paint transfer and deep scratching. I bought the truck almost new and did heavy correction and touch up repairs already, so I fear the clear is too thin. I'm taking it to be looked at, but I expect to have to repaint it.

Well, if you’re already mentally prepared to accept a full repaint. Then you’ve got nothing to lose by trying to wet sand first. If it works, you saved a bunch of money.
