Hello People! Thanks for joining me for more guitar restoration videos! These tuner bushings are too loose. Here's a how-to video on fixing the problem. Cheers, Scotty D., Harpeth Guitar Restoration, LLC. Nashville, Tennessee

Hi Scotty, this kind of issue is rather rare but when it happens, it's a lot of mess ! Anyways thank you for your advice, see you next video !!!

I was dealing with exact the same trouble. I understand from your point of view working on the wood side to get the space filled. How about a thin wrap of sheet copper around the bushing side? Or am I cursing in the church now? (it's a hack I used to practice when I worked as a bicycle mechanic ; ))

This is exactly what I was thinking to do. I have fully filled holes and re-drilled as well. But sometimes expediting this step seems like a better idea if it is well done. If it’s good enough for a ‘67 Gibson, I think it will work for me!

Thanks for the tip, very insightful. BTW, what type of cutters are using to resize those spruce clippings?

Now, does it lift back up a hair towards the nut with the string on tension?

Excellent content. Thank you! Q: Does it have to be spruce or will nearly any wood species shaving suffice?

Thanks! I’ve only tried spruce so I’m not sure 🤔

Thank you so much for making this video! The bushings on my 60s Epiphone are sprouting up and when I try to push them back in (without strings), they just slowly pop back up again. Does this mean the holes are too large (and need the shavings) or are the holes too small (and need to be enlarged)? Thanks so much for any info!

Right on. Try taking the tuners off to see how they fit without the tuners in the way.

No one likes a dirty hole. I prefer a clean hole myself. ;)
