I am as impressed with your skills as everyone else---don't know too many people that would do as you did (truth is----we would buy a new one first!)

Very clever repair. But it will not be strong enough and it will break under a lot of pressure.

It's always fun to watch these guys make their Magic on broken things that no one else can fix. They always make do with what they have, and they are to be admired for that. I liked and subscribed to your channel so I can see more of what I saw today and thanks for all your work to put these interesting videos on YT for us to enjoy~!!

I don't think it will works so good. Different angle of upper jaw!
@КонстантинЦой-г4ш
@КонстантинЦой-г4ш 2 ай бұрын
The teeth on the upper jaw should be bent inward so that when gripping the pipe they bite into the metal

Amazing what can be done with skill and a 4 jaw lathe chuck. Why not use a mill? Seems more efficient.

The repair job didn't work at all. Jaws not parallel, rivited head not welded,teeth on top jaw in wrong direction and the test showd this at the end.

Another interesting repair. Question, how did you cut the depth of the teeth on the new piece as it wasn't possible to cut each tooth to a finished depth in one pass? There is no "north/south" adjustment for the cradle, only east/west for the jig set up shown. It must have taken several passes to cut each tooth to the finished depth?
@Supervisor000
@Supervisor000 2 ай бұрын
Of course they made it with some passes - with each new pass they extended cutter with a little greater length.

He never welded the underside of the jaw, just the top and end, that's a weak point that will probably break.

From a tradesmen' s point of view ....the most arse backwards repair ever . To the uninitiated layman Great Job . Three procedures drilling gas cutting grinding to make a slot ...? LOL the salt to the water for hardening ...useless . I doubt the material used was carbon steel and you cant harden mild steel with any heating / quenching process
@TheGhosteyez

As soon as any real pressure is on those rivets top jaw is just gona bend off
@jackking5567
@jackking5567 Ай бұрын
I could see from the sparks when the teeth were ground that the steel is low grade mild steel. As you say, it might look OK but honestly it's a pants repair.

LI would like to know what kind of welding rod you used---probably a 6013 as you seem to use that a lot---should at least be a 7018 low Hydrogen--higher PSI strength

@@rolandgirard3955 You may have missed it, but you still called the stick. They seem to use 7018 a lot, but they don't always show the type. I can't see them using different rods for different jobs
