Hello Walter! After watching your video I was able to service the Primer Solenoid on my Johnson 115 Outboard. Removing the one carburetor made the job so easy to do. I was having a problem in starting the motor from a cold start and now it starts like a champ. I rebuilt the solenoid and found no contact with the positive wire, your video gave me the confidence to do the job myself. Thank You and keep up the good work...

Im so glad yuo had this video. I have the same engine and I could not find much of anything about it. Mine seems to have spark and fuel but I cant get it to crank. I had a new VRO Pump, New Power Pack and new plugs put in it back in 2012. Because of health issues the boats only been run about 20-30 hours ever since then. I started it a few days ago, it ran perfectlyt then it died. I thought it ran outta gas but it didnt. it was almost full. Now I cant get it to start. It will kick over once in a while but it wont run. So frustrated.

My plastic primer developed a hairline crack 3 years ago. It pulled straight out and I pushed in a new one. It just cracked again last week. I have a 94 johnson 150hp. I also changed the white/clear fuel filter. They fill with sediment every single year.

I actually took a set of clubs with me to U.S.N.S. Guantanamo Bay Cuba since I was there for almost 12 years. One problem with the ground there is that it's mostly coral rock and cactus . The tee boxes and greens are the only places that have grass on them the rest is a reddish beige with some flat spots on the ground as well. Get lucky and a ball hits one of them and it'll go anywhere including the green as my ball did one a 427 yard hole. That was on the green is one n a par 4 hole. I don't play as much anymore now that I'm in my 70's. Repairing computer systems without touching them has gotten me lots of work. No remote desktop, I do not touch the other persons system, they do and I let them know what they will see if they follow my instructions. They pay me and think I'm a genius and I'll take it.

Interesting. So, is the little piece of plastic that was lost simply a cover-cap that snaps over top of that hole ? Is it truly nothing major to worry about? Seems you had a fine day (weather-wise) for working on it.

Don’t all the fuel primer do the same thing that means that one off a 90 would work on a 2001 in the same horsepower

I have seen some recent videos of NS 140 running up the Griffin sub on the old CofG line and it sure looked like they replaced the old JR with new CW rail. If you happen to find out when anything runs along that line, let me know. Until then, now that you are driving again, when will you be up to Jenkinsburg?

A golf tee in the hose with that hose clamp will work better. On older vehicles as I remember we used to put a golf tee into hose to stop a vacuum worked well. Think back to the 1970's vehicles.

Indeed, that IS a good trick, but the problem associated with that trick is that sometimes the technicians/mechanics will become distracted to the point where they stop the work to go play golf.......

Worked great on my 1972 Ford Ranger pickup truck, which btw I kept for just over 7 years.

Excellent. But please tell us, how were you able to resist walking away from the work at hand to go golfing?

At the time I owned that truck, I was 27 years old, but I'd been playing golf since I was 12. I'd practice by hitting hickory nuts down the road in our development.. The houses in the development had not been all there. Our house, built back in 1956 was the 12th one built, so there were lots of targets to aim at in the area. The golf course was around 8 miles from where we lived and I'd go out there about every 4 to 6 weeks. So golf was in my blood thanks in part to my Dad who would get up at 6 AM and be on the starting tee at 6:30 3 times a week. Play 18 holes walking all of the way, and be home before 10.

Seems to me that you'd have been better off doing a complete engine inspection, tune-up, and cleaning. The inspection could have caught all sorts of problems on that motor not having been stored properly.
