if you can't find any iron on denim, I would think a matching fabric and some fabric glue could work too?
@spiceandmice9135
@spiceandmice9135 3 жыл бұрын
as another option if denim patches aren't around, you could get double-sided fusible interfacing at a fabric store (if I did this, I would cut the interfacing in a donut, so that the ripped part did not touch the interfacing, then sandwich it between the denim and the patch, then iron, but you could just do the sandwich without cutting a hole in the interfacing). There are also ways to do invisible (on the outside) stitches, or you could try fabric glue spread (very!) thin.

I know this isn't very helpful afterwards lol but when I realize that I'm wearing a certain pair of jeans a lot I immediately use iron on patches on the inner thighs. You can also do this when you first notice the material thinning before a hole forms!
@TheLadyMoniqe

Using a patch of fabric similar to the colour of the jeans on the inside and sewing over it in all directions with a jean-coloured thread works for me. You can look up how to darn jeans on YT. I also find that jeans with a topstitch on the inner seam last longer. In the end, the holes on the inner thigh are kind of inevitable so I just try to buy decent quality jeans and not wear them when I'm at home. And if they rip, darning lets me wear them for a little while longer, I just have to be more careful about not ripping them.

I repair and alter clothes for a living. What I do if use iron on interfacing on the back, rounded corners. (Like the first one here) I like to make it past the hole at least a half inch around to prevent further ripping. Then I darn the good side with a sewing machine. I blend in the stitches with an exact colour match. (Always go darker rather than lighter if no exact match.) I make sure the lines of stitching are long enough to go past the interfacing a little to prevent lifting. The results are pretty good. All these methods listed are good for a no machine fix. But if you have one, I suggest trying this way as it prevents bulk, but keeps it strong.

Love your iron Kelsey! Great to see you do some cool stitching! That's what I did back in the 70's and also alot of patching for my son when he was little in the 90's! For your last repair to reinforce it, you could do a button hole stitch all around the big hole. It will keep it stronger and from fraying less and coming apart again!😀💖👖

Awesome video, thanks! Couple questions: On method number two, when putting the cardboard on the other side of the hole so the iron on won’t stick to the jeans, doesn’t it stick to the cardboard, and wouldn’t that make it hard to peel that cardboard off? Last time I had iron on patches on my jeans, as a kid decades ago, they always wore really uncomfortably, and would peel off overtime. Are modern iron on patches more comfortable and stay on longer? Thanks!

That is indeed what happened to me. 😭 The card got suck and it was a real pain to fix it. Also recreating those threads was a bad idea. In one case I used the iron-on-patch directly on the hole, wihtout cutting away any threads, and that was a way better idea.
