In a KZbin world where nearly everything has been covered repeatedly, you found something useful that needed to be covered.

You say this might not be to everyone's taste then give a fascinating insight into a repair that could apply to so many kinds of outdoor objects. For a one-off repair video it's better than most other channels can 'manufacture' - and for a genuine client. The grey wash was inspired as I was wondering all the way through how you'd disguise all the new timber. Thanks for this, it was great!

Thanks! color matching is usually a nightmare, but I think this is close enough that after a season or two outside the repairs will really blend in.

Loved the change in pace and subject material of this video. I appreciate that you are capable of tackling anything thrown at you, with a minimum to tools. You also manage to mix things up and give great tip along the way. Thank you Caitlin. As a relatively inexperienced woodworker, most KZbinrs that have all the latest and greatest tools do not inspire me at all.

My personality never would have allowed me to do this, people always asked but I knew I would end up just making it new. Hats off that you are able to do this.

I don't think he is putting it on a wagon. He just has the seat and he said he might use it as a seat or to hold plants.

This was really helpful. I’m getting ready to do some repairs on a very old, handmade dresser and I plan to keep as much of the original wood as possible. Using splines will be a great solution to keep the side panels aligned where they’ve come apart over the years. You did a great job on this piece and I’m sure your client will be very pleased to have his grandfather’s work last many more years to come. 🙂

Great repair! I'm going to do the epoxy on my exterior garage door as the knob faceplate lost screws to wood rotting from weather and using latex paint which traps moisture in the wood like a balloon. Also, I watched a wheelsmith youtuber make a mix of vinegar and 0000 wool to age wood and it works! Then when dry, spar urethane over it. Thanks for the tip and nice repair of that wagon seat!

Oh nice thanks! I might try that to even out the color on the original wood that I had to sand a bit. I've seen similar issue with people that cover rot with flashing. It just traps moisture and then exacerbates the problem

Good morning 🌅, Honey B , I hope you are keeping safe and well, Great job, preserving the character of the bench seat, I presume recently was poppy on a small horse and cart, Probably would look nice as a piece of garden furniture, I was given a contract many years ago to restore bench seating that went round a tree, 🌳, the client wanted me just to repair it where I needed, the main problem being was the bench seat was made many years ago, and obviously the tree had grown, and pulled the bench seat apart, they ended up telling me to make a completely new bench seat, and allow for at least 20 years growth, what started out as a renovation job that was going to be reasonably cheap?, Ended up being a major construction., as they told me to make it in Oak, as you can probably gather it cost a lot of money,, Memories , keep up the great work, I hope you’re taking pictures of your work that you’re doing over the years, I know you’ve probably got it on film, but it’s nice to look back and show people what you have made over your career, good luck for the future stay safe, France.

Yeah, I think he is hoping to use it as garden furniture. Jobs that snowball like that are always the craziest ones. Anytime I've done work on older houses that's how it goes. Sometimes replacing those old timbers reveals the craziest of things.

I doubt that you have much spare time to watch you tube but if you do there is a content creator in Wyoming called Engels Coach shop. Well worth watching quite the craftsman specializing in horse drawn vehicles. He has repaired some wagon seats and also built new ones from scratch. Thanks for your hard work creating your on videos!

Would you please provide the epoxy you used. I have a 5’ church floor candle holder that has split on one side. Once the melted wax is removed, I thought expos would be the best option. Thoughts? Thanks

It's just a kit from total boat I got off amazon. Good reviews and cheaper then some other products. I like it for exterior work because of the durability. But for interior work Titebond 3 is my glue of choice.
