Interesting tip! When I soldered my trumpet's main tuning slide to get it unstuck, when soldered back the slides were too narrow. So I used your tip, only flexing outward a bit. Three attempts, bam, perfect!

I have a trombone that is leaking from the tuning slide. I was wondering if you could give some advice on how to assess and fix that

First, see if you can figure out where it is leaking. Is it a loose tuning slide tube or a loose solder joint? To find out, hold the bell so it is pointing up and pour some water in the bell and see where it leaks.

@@TheBrassandWoodwindShop that worked! I found a hairline crack and a pinhole leak. I covered it with Teflon tape for now but what would be a more permanent solution?
