So far, I'm amazed at how far you've gotten with that slide. If you're able to make that a usable slide, I'll be both astounded and impressed. I have my doubts.

Looking good! I wish I had the money to purchase this when you finish. I loved this horn's brother when I played it in high school lol.

Woow, this is an impressive love ! You're amazingly skilled in dent work this was a bad one ! And you're also a great teacher. I wondered if the effects of annealing the metal would be cancelled by the amount of ''work hardening''caused by the dent work... I suppose it's not since you're not doing it. Thanks for this knowledge !

Hello im an avid trombone player funnily enough, im 15 and already have around 7 horns. I have such an interest in brass repair i was wondering if repair shops would even take a teenager? And how long would it take for me to get a basic understanding of the skills required.

Best thing to do is go and ask! I know from experience that shops might not take you in right away due to insurance and liability issues. I know some have worked they way into the shop by being store clerks or cashiers first, so you might settle for that and eventually work in the shop. Once you near graduation you should check out MSCS Red Wing to get professional training. You might also find welding, machining, blacksmithing, and metalsmithing classes helpful for grasping the processes and materials relevant to repair. Good luck!

I have got out those kind of dents out but, I used two hammers. I held one on one side while I tap with the other on the other side

I am trying to picture that, but I do not exactly understand how that would work. Could you please give some more information? I may want to try that technique in the next video. Thank you, Art

I have an Olds F attachment trombone & the trigger mechanism is boken & a local repai shop told me that it needs to be reolaced. Since it is an old trombone & there are not any replacement parts available. What do you reccomend i should do?
@TheBrassandWoodwindShop

It is hard to say without seeing it. I think I would get a second opinion. Some shops only like to replace parts. Other shops will work with whatever is there and make it work. I hope this helps. Art

First of all I would like to thank you for giving us this knowledge of yours. I'm watching your video with great curiosity as to what to do with the price. I got something very valuable from this lesson of yours. That is, if a pipe needs to be stretched, it should be stretched gradually. In other words, I learned that we have to do it in order. I look forward to hearing more from you about Trombone Repair. I would be very happy if you could give me your email address.

It usually is not a good idea to anneal trombone slide tubes. I will only do that if it is absolutely needed.
