Other videos caution against geting any grease at all between the boot and clamps where either of the clamps are to avoid any slippage at all and replacing both boots from the outside end of the axles--without wrestling with the cone thing.

my joints are shot by the time I get the boot kits so I just order new axles ... need a better way to protect boots

There is a better way, you have to build your own heavy plastic protective covers to cover more area!
