Piyush Tripathi The TP-LINK WA5210G specification is for 2Km (1 1/4 Miles), but it depends on the environment, whether you have good line of sight, the equipment used at the other end etc.

Hello how are you. I liked your video but I have some questions I would like respondieras. 1. why it must be configured in client mode Ap router? 2. ¿porque not simply in client mode and connected to an access point? 3.- Being configured as you say, the tp-link WA5210G transmits only wifi or cable? I mean: I can connect via wifi to tp-link WA5210G without using the tp-link WA701ND? I really hope you clarify these doubts. Thank you very much for your input and video. A greeting.
@techydiy8 жыл бұрын
I don't really understand your question but there are several reasons why you might want to use this setup: 1. The wifi signal you are trying to access is physically shielded and you are unable to access it from your location. For example, if you are inside a building and the wifi service is external to the building. The configuration described in the video can extend the signal into the building where it can be accessed by any wifi device. 2. The service you are trying to access only allows one device to connect to it and you want to connect several devices to that service. Several wifi services limit the number of devices associated with one login. 3. You are trying to access a distant weak wifi service with a device that has a poor antenna. Most tablets and phones have poor antennas. An external antenna with direct line of sight makes a huge difference. Hope that helps.

Thank you for answering, helped me a lot. Anything else; Does the outside antenna is connected when and retransmits the air wifi signal? or the acces point which emits the signal? A greeting!
@techydiy8 жыл бұрын
+Yuli Valverde 5210g is located outside and connects to the WiFi service. The 701 is inside and connects to your devices (Phone, tablet, laptop etc.). The 5210g has two built in high gain antennas, it can also operate with a higher power output than normal.

+techydiy so, i can use any "4 port" wifi router instead of using WA701ND (let say TL-WR740N)? and one more option.. From WA5210G to TP-link(PoE, LAN), from LAN directly to 24 port switch hub. is it possible? sorry if i have a lot of questions sir. Thanks so much.
@techydiy9 жыл бұрын
+Efren Junior You can add an ethernet switch or hub between the WA701ND and the WA5210G. You should then be able to connect another ethernet device into the hub with it configured for dhcp. e.g. A laptop connected with an ethernet cable You might be able to power the WA5210G directly from the switch over POE if the switch is compatible e.g. Same voltage etc. otherwise you would have to use the POE adapter. I don't know if the WR740N will work as a replacement for the WA701ND in this application. Thanks, Nigel

Hi i have a site (motel) with 7 small buildings (wood wall). the entire site have 290 meters long x 100 meters large. I want to give wifi internet access to my customers inside and outside the buildings. it will work with that type of device (cpe210)? i plan to install one as an ap router wired to my pppoe provider, and 3 other on the roof of a building on the center of the site (ap client router). thank you and sorry for english errors i speak french!

+Ronny Roberge Yes it should be able to cover that distance.
@rroberge4188 жыл бұрын
+techydiy wow what a fast reply ! you think that at this distance of the outside antennas will be strong enough to have descent connections on mobile devices inside buildings? alors do you know the number of possible simultanous connections ?
@techydiy8 жыл бұрын
+Ronny Roberge I can't say for certain as it depends on many factors. If you site them high with line of sight of the buildings then it sounds reasonable. My advice is buy one unit and try it.

Hey, I'm watching this video for the third time now and I'm just trying to wrap my head around all this to hopefully include this setup in my camper (I'm doing a 2 yr long trip and this would really help). The internal router can run it's own network for my devices to connect to, and doesn't need to repeat the original network the WA5210G connects to correct? Secondly for mobile purposes, I would be changing the connection point often, how would I control which network the WA5210G connects to, can I authenticate with networks that need a login (accept terms of use) like starbucks or mcdonalds, and better yet is there a way of automating that process?
@techydiy9 жыл бұрын
Simon Stiles The configuration is basically designed to do what you are asking. To select an external network then you need to access the configuration menu on the WA5210G, select Wireless, wireless mode, then select the survey button to see what services (SSIDs) are available. You can then connect to the service that you require. Access to services like McDonalds Wifi works fine, you connect to the service (SSID) as above and then use one of your devices web browser to enter any authentication details required in the normal way. The service will see all of your devices as one device so you will only need to authenticate on one device. As for automating it, yes it is possible but you would need programming/scripting skills. Hope that helps Enjoy your trip!

Hi can i install outdoor TP-Link WA5210G in a room and not outside and then would it provide a wifi signal in another building at a distance of near about 150-200 metres. If not then is there any device that can do so. And if yes how strong will be wi-fi signal. Thank you.

It depends on lots of different factors that affect the transmission path. Generally these devices work best point to point and line of site, any obstructions will reduce the range.

You didn't mention the conflict of IP's. It would be better to place it into a bridge mode or at least program the WA701D to use the WA5210 as the DHCP server. That way only one device is controlling ALL IP's. Otherwise you would need to create a separate network of IP's, (Your image of the configuration for the WA701D was on the .2 network NOT the .1 network) If that was intentional then I think you may want to mention that. (I would prefer a bridge mode OR just repeat the existing network) depending on your needs or situation. I just find either of those are easier as bridge mode allow FULL forwarding of any and all traffic to the WA5210, including DHCP requests. Of course the Repeater mode would just Re-Broadcast the signal to other devices a piggyback.
@techydiy5 жыл бұрын
If I remember correctly it was configured that way to allow multiple clients to connect to one account on a WiFi service.

Try to make sure the camera has the SAME IP and subnet and gateway as your network. Also check to make sure you have the DHCP enabled so all device can get the same IP info, If not, just make sure you place the camera into the same network as your router.

You configured the 510 to be a DHCP server starting at 192.168.1.101 but you then configure the 701 to have a fixed IP of 192.168.1.100. Why not leave it as dynamic and let the 510 provide the IP? I'm trying to use your video to boost a public Wifi AP using a CPE210 and an older cisco wireless router (linksys configuration software). The 210 default address is 192.168.0.254 (just to be different) and I connect the wire from the LAN port on the POE device straight in to the cicso router 'internet' input. The router's default IP is 192.168.1.1. Do you have a tip to get this config working? Should I change the router IP to 192.168.0.1 (and the gateway to 192.168.0.254)? Thanks.
@techydiy8 жыл бұрын
If you assign a fixed ip to the 701 then you can access it's configuration via wifi without connecting it to the 5210. It just removes a potential problem and makes tracing faults easier. Both devices ethernet ports need to be in the same subnet to communicate, it doesn't really matter what it is, as long as its the same. So 192.168.0.1 sunet 255.255.255.0 and 192.168.0.254 subnet 255.255.255.0 is ok. Let me know how you get on.
@mikeatyouttube8 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your help. The CPE210 software looks different to that in your video and by looking carefully at your video I determined I was not using the correct initial configuration. There is a mode called Client on the 210 but what I needed to select was AP Client (WISP). Once I'd done that everything started working much better :) My cisco (linksys) router has additional ports on it (unlike your 701) so I decided to leave the address of the router as dynamic (since I could always attach a cable to connect and reconfigure the router). But I shall remember your point about wireless connecting for reconfiguring.

Anyone can suggest me an idea.... I have internet connection in my laptop through usb stick and at present using connectifyme as a hotspot for my mobilephones..that ranges only a few meters... Can i use TP-Link CPE510 to supply internet from my laptop through ethernet and access in mobilephones for few hundred meters? Can i get clear wifi signal for at least 5km?
@techydiy9 жыл бұрын
+Regan Jeya Antony A few hundred meters is possible, 5km is not unless you have two devices with high gain directional antennas. I am not familiar with connectifyme, but it may be possible to use this and an external access point like the CPE510 or simply repeating the wifi signal might give you the increase in range you are looking for.

+vikas R I assume your talking about the 5210g. Yes. The range depends upon the environment, 200m should be possible. The 5210g has an external antenna connector so you can use the parabolic antenna.
