How to replace 1845c Drive Spool Seals (improved remix)

Replacing the outer drive spool seals on an 1845c skid steer.
This is a remix of the original. Added voice over with helpful tips & part #'s
Case part #'s (fits all 1845c & 1840 afaik)
Inner seals:
S99877 BACK-UP RING, Split, 9.91mm ID x 12.65mm OD x 1.32mm
86629543 O-RING, 0.07" Thk x 0.364" ID, -12, Cl 5, 75 Duro (old part # 238-5012)
Outer seals:
D0NNH947A BACK-UP RING 16.18mm ID x 19.07mm OD x 1.42mm Thk (old part # L35297)
128359 O-RING, 0.07" Thk x 0.614" ID, -16, Cl 5, 75 Duro (old part # 238-5016)

Did you have any symptoms other than the leak that caused you to replace the seals? I have a different brand skid steer but they all very similar. Anyhow, my machine has always tracked perfectly - like you could pick up dimes with the bucket it was so accurate but one day the controls got very sloppy and laggy on the left side. At first I thought it was the drive motor, but I'm leaning/hoping to the drive spool and seal. The pintle plate lever is very loose and sloppy and the spool is leaking out the top. I'm hoping this is what is causing my problems with my left side drive. I ordered a new spool and seal for it.. it was less than the $3000 for the drive motor and I'm starting with that. Thanks! Just a quick question. Why do you have to drain the whole system??

Hydraulic tank is higher than the pump, so you need to drain the tank first or it's a big mess. Easiest way drain is just pull the drain plug on the bottom of the tank. That will empty the whole tank. You could pump some of the tank out through the fill neck, but you'd be guessing at how much to drain. In the end, it's just easiest to drain the whole tank.
