How to replace 2014 Nissan Sentra Transmission Range sensor/ Neutral Safety Switch

It's great to see how a mechanic can work fast and thorough. This is a common problem I see. My 2006 Nissan Altima SE had issues with the gears changing into a high gear while stopped or when vehicle is slowing down. When this happens, the Engine light will appear and the car would have a loud gault. (you would think the engine just fell out). The sensor on the 2006 Altima sits exactly underneath the battery holster. Thank you for this video. Very Cool!!!

Sorry boss I would suggest taking it to a shop to have a correct diagnostic done. Codes do not tell you what's wrong only tells you were to go look for issues. I do offer one on one help using my discord channel.

At autozone code P0705 pulled, i took it to nissan and they pulled faulty cvt and replaced the trans, but the light is still on and pulling the P0705 code? Wouldn't replacing the trans fix that code? Unless the other trans had that same code?

Question what is I changed it but it's still acting the same way and still has the same code does that mean the safety switch sensor is still bad or is it a wiring problem because when I drive to accelerate she jerks but maybe once or twice but the rest of the way I would have to like speed up could you possibly answer that question for me

a range sensor has nothing to do with the transmission driving its only to tell you and the computer what selection you are in Park N Drive 3rd thats it

Is the transmission range sensor located in the same place on a 2017 Nissan Versa ?? I tried to see if I could order the part but autozone & oriellys don’t carry that part & keep telling me I need to take it into a dealership but I already know they’re going to say I need to replace the whole tranny.

Yes just looked it up same place same procedure. Try Amazon for the part try to get to close to oem as possible

Is it normal for these to be really tight to put on. Very easy to break when putting on :( I have japan Nissan note 09 thats giving me issues. The switch looks similar to this and is in a similar place.

Yes they are it's plastic and they tend the rust up where the shaft meets. I usually brake them taking them off and spray pb blaster to help them to slide onto the shaft.

I have a 2016 Nissan Ad wagon and The car seems to loose power . After i scan I see the code P0705 - Transmission Range Sensor A Circuit (PRNDL Input ). I’m worried . Could you explain please ? if i do the same change that you just did, would my problem be resolved?

Not likely the trans range sensor is only for the transmission going in and out of gear. Nothing to do with loss of poer when driving.

Spray the shaft with rust remover like pb blaster then pry it off wiggle. If you have a new one then just destroy the old one won't matter

With the code you had told me on the phone yes the whole trans would need to be replaced. The CVT is the crux in most Nissans.

If the object of your video is to show people how to change out the sensor.....at least take the camera off your head and slowly put it down in the area you are going to be working with a good light and hold the damn camera still while you describe what it is you are looking at. You obviously know what you are doing but you are trying to instruct others on how to do it also. It looks like you are in a race as opposed to instructing.

Let me clarify a few things . First this is not an instruction video. This is a how to video and more importantly how I did it video. You tube videos unless specifically noted should be taken at face value . They are like documents of people life's. If you want step by step from with pictures at most times I would suggest investing in a service manual or subscription service. That is instruction material . Thanks for watching.

If I'm holding a camera my hands are not free to do what I need to do. So no will stay on my head and not every cam angle will be perfect. When I have the cam in my hand it will be short sweet to the point. My job is a mechanic not a cam operator sorry. As I said before if you really really want instructions buy a service manual.

The inability to take constructive criticism, lack if energy to do tasks, too much alchohol or other substances in the system or craving thereof, making them careless or neglectful aka a liability. Can do task but make excuses when asked to simply explain, and due to low academic intellectual understanding... get upset , make excuses or just tell you take your shit and go. Your advice about the camera is very constructive and his reply indicates he simply dosent know how to articulate or demonstrate nuances needed to understand.
