Great video. I just replaced the same one on my 2010 Chevy Silverado crew cab, a few exceptions but works perfectly. Cost $20. Took about an hour. I did not remove that cable. I had plenty of room.

Driving and owning cars for 55 years and this is the first time I have seen this happen. What cheap crap. Thanks GM. I'm going to take the panel off today and try to epoxy the studs back into place. I'll let you know how it works.

I finished it up yesterday. The panel came off easy. I used a 10mm socket on all the bolts (4 of them). The epoxy held up great and everything is back together and working like new.

Dude...only dropped the bolts 3 times.. That is not a record !! I did it maybe 5 times. Finally used some putty like goop on the socket to hold the bolt head onto the socket. All is good now. Refreshing to fix the problem so cheap. The dealer would charge a fortune I would guess.

tip ; use a little pinch of the shield gummy stuff to hold the 10mm bolts into socket for removal & installation prevents hunting for a dropped bolt.

Yes! In fact, buy some and keep it around for holding nuts in the sockets on other jobs.

Or put a magnet on the extension, I decent magnet will hold most hardware.

I think I know how I broke the first one; I tried to force open the door when it was locked. Thanks. Great video. Replaced it without any problems, except I had to fetch a couple screws that fell inside the door. And oh, and I had to flip the actual lock gear to make my trial run work. Bought the new latch on ebay for $12.

Yeah like the other guy said, cheap GM crap! I guess GM would like for you to take it to a dealer, I called a dealer they wanted 110.00 bucks for the handle and about 200.00 to install! I bought the handle on line for 25.00 now I will attempt to repair it. Thanks for the video guys!

Pretty good video, there was some details that would have been nice to cover. Specifically the window switch, you guys made that look way too easy. Took me a second to figure out you had to push on the clip to release/unhook it from the switch. The panel was a witch on my truck to pull off. But!! Overall, great explanation. Thank you guys! This was very helpful. However once I put everything back together the door will not open from the inside or out. Any ideas? FYI it's alot harder getting that panel off with the door closed from the inside in Texas.

Fixed it. There is a plastic yellow box at the end of the rod that attaches to the exterior handle. I had to open that clip up so the rod could seat lower. Probably cause I didn't have an OEM handle.

Where is this yellow plastic part and how did you gain access to the interior door once the door cover is on? I closed the door to check to make sure it worked after replacing the broken handle. Everything went back together with no problem. The door will not open from outside or inside. About all I can check is to make sure the electric lock works. The door is stuck hard closed. I'm facing a rough life if I have to have the wife climb in and out of the window every time we go somewhere. HELP!!!!!!!!!!😓😓😓😓😭😭😭😭

I think all door handles are junk but you could be right. Mine always break trying to open a door in winter. GM is in Detroit so go figure. Twenty years ago GM made it's own components. Now however it's all bought and thrown together so low price is king. That explains a lot of the junk IMHO.

The Door Handle on the front passenger door of my 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche will not open the door. I locked the ignition keys to the Avalanche inside the vehicle last week. The local fire department used an inflation device to pry the door open to use an extension device to pull the manual lock piece up to unlock the door. Now the outside door handle will not engage to open the door. The inside door handle will open the door, but, not the outside handle. How do I correct this myself without taking the vehicle to the local Chevrolet dealership? Is their a You Tube video to show me? Thank you for your help and assistance !
