Hi. I did not use any power back up it is not needed. You will just lose your radio channels and your trip odometer. No big deal.

Mazda 3 2010 - 2017 uses Group size 35 batteries. But if u measure the square plastic box where the battery sits you can actually fit a larger battery with higher crank amps!

Well I wish it was this easy on my son's 3. Went to remove the hold down bar and on both sides the nut is corroded to the stud. Sprayed down with PB breaker. Still won't turn without turning the whole stud with it, even with vice grips attached to the top of the stud. That means the stud head which is fully contained in plastic with no access has stripped out. Looks like I'll be cutting these bolts out. Ten minute job just turned into an hour or two.
