Thanks for this video, If AAA installed the battery it would have cost $135 plus tax. Instead, I went to Costco, bought a battery for $78 with tax, and followed this video. My total time working was less than 10 minutes. This video is very clear and I recommend it for anyone who wants to change out their battery,

Thank you so much for posting this video! I'd never done any car maintenance before (other than topping off fluids and checking my oil) and have never even changed a tire by myself before, yet this video helped me change out my own battery in less than hour! I cannot thank you enough for teaching me how to do this and for saving me hundreds of dollars!

Update: As these models get older, don't expect it to be at all as easy as this video. In addition to the 10mm ratchet/socket you should probably also have some WD40, some long handled narrow pliers, and a honking regular screwdriver. Just did this on the side of the road in winter and thank god (and AH Parts dismantlers) I watched this video fist.

Thank you so much🙏. I removed my Honda battery for charging but could NOT get where the plate rod bolts went. You have clearly identified where they go. I was trying the metal plate which is why it would not reach 😢. I was thinking of embarrassing going to a mechanic! Now I know its the casing base 👍.. Other KZbinrs haven't bothered explaining it ! 😳

This is why: You actually leave both screws on and loosen them far enough so you can wrench one side out from the bottom followed by the other side. This is the easiest and fastest way. Also the most safe as you won't lose any screws or parts. I changed the same car battery in 47 seconds done perfect. Remember time is money.

For anyone wondering what are the easy things to change vs. what you ought not do yourself : Change the air filters, battery, spark plugs, light bulbs, and bumper covers by yourself. Especially with a bumper cover, you might save $800 or more vs. taking it to a body shop. Timing belt : Maybe. It depends on how skilled you are. Oil, transmission fluid, and other fluids : Don't bother trying to do this yourself. It is not worth it.

Oil change is very easy to do yourself too if you have the know-how. Its saved me a lot of money, all you need is a ratchet and an oil pan along with new oil and a new oil filter. Def worth the money saved if you have the time to spend.

Hi there, The reason we did that is because it is held on with pressure. Because it is threaded on to begin with, you need to unscrew it, but you can just push it back into place and the threads will catch it with its own pressure. Hope that makes sense?! If you tired to tighten it back down, it would just keep spinning and wouldn't make a difference. Thanks

This video works for 2012 model as well - you have to have that long socket - I did this job, and had to use old-school pliers - great video - he might have mentioned those plastic caps are not to be screwed - in the video, he doesn't finish the job - you need to put that 2nd cap on - I guess that goes without saying, though - great video - very useful

Trying to do this in a foot of snow with the outside temperature at 25°F and having trouble getting the black plastic cover and battery to slide up because the cables are frozen solid and not flexible enough to allow enough clearance. Why did Honda think they needed all those damn harness clips securing the cables everywhere? Your video makes it look so easy but I can't get enough slack in.the cable to allow the cover or battery to pass up!

How difficult is it to replace the battery cable itself in these cars? I replaced the battery in my car and it still won't turn over. The alternator was checked and it was putting out power to the battery so u know that's good, and the battery itself is new so i know Thats good. I noticed corrosion on the positive cable starting so I'm going to replace that end and hope it fixes it. I'm not sure if it's the starter or not because there's times where it will struggle to turn over and just click, but then there's times where it will actually start the car and act as if nothing is wrong with the starter. So part of me is thinking there is further corrosion build up in the positive battery cable which is leading to the weak starter pull, making it sound like its going bad. So I'm thinking it's either that cable, or still possibly the starter.
