With this video I was able to put my door spring back in. I could not have done it without the technique. Although I could not get it compressed enough, tighten the straps enough, so that it would easily go in. But with the help of a hammer, wood dowel, and crow bar, I squeezed it in!

Absolutely ingenious. It worked perfectly. It was easier for me because I had the door off and was able to get to the zip ties more easily.

Ex boyfriend broke my door and I wouldn't close so i had to figure a way to get the spring out. Literally 4-5 years later i finally fix it myself😂😂 i wish i had this video all them days ago. Got a ugly pinched door and finder thanks to him

looks like the spring you use was larger. I did it on a 69 Torino with a smaller spring a 2 tie straps work great fantastic idea!!!

my dore shifted and on top of the spring coming out one of the hinges came out of position and the unit spring goes on jammed in the in with the door open ass backwards, out in the middle of Crystal Lake country in the middle of the night.i tride a couple of different methods. When I got home put the spring back in. Don't get me started with what I had to do to reposition the door so it would line up with the latch and i didn't exactly have anybody to help me stop working in the dark during a storm..ill have to give this a try to put the spring back in.

Well apparently they do not make zip ties like they used to. Tried it even with 8 zip ties and they can not hold, they just strip out as I loosen the vice. The spring is way to strong for them.

You can most likely get a dodge door spring from a junk yard or maybe off of ebay. You still need the door spring compressor tool to get the one out of the vehicle at the junk yard. Amazon has the tool, 10 to 15 bucks.

I also saw on Amazon in the reviews where someone bought this spring www.amazon.com/Dorman-38436-Door-Hinge-Spring/dp/B000C5I3ZW and said they cut three coils off of it and ground it flat and it worked.
