This was the best video on the Ford Fusion door handle replacement. Our's has been a very reliable and fun-to-drive car, and you made this repair simple. One suggestion: after removing the door panel, take a Sharpie thin marker and outline the position of the old door handle assembly; then, when you install the replacement, it will line up perfectly with the plastic door panel and finish piece.

Thanks for creating and sharing this video! The details on the number of screws and size of sockets etc was great. Ordered a new part for $12 on Amazon, took about 15 minutes, all in, to grab the exact tools I needed and knocked this out! Probably saved me $150-200 from not taking it to a shop too!

🏆🛠 This is how to make an exceptional DIY repair video. You have a steady camera, clear and simple step-by-step narration, and there is no annoying and distracting metal/rap/hip hop "music" blasting in the background-- a hallmark of the true amateur KZbinrs. Well done and I can now fix my broken Fusion's door handle.

Thank you so much for your video. Your detailed explanation and clear video made this easy to repair. In fact, my 12-year-old son did it all with a little help removing the door from the clips. One of the larger clips was difficult to pry off. I actually used two wooden spoons to wedge it off. In another video, we watched it mentioned the part 81702 DORMAN. I’m glad you found yours for a few dollars. We bought ours on Amazon. We saved a lot of money having it done at the dealership, but not only that it was fun to do and your video was great.

I’m having a real hard time getting the white part back in. You do it with ease between 4:00 and 4:12. Any tips? It’s like the cable isn’t long enough.
@jadehorizon1881 Жыл бұрын
Just make sure you hook the metal end in first, and then that white plastic piece should line right up to be snapped in. If not, you should be able to pull it back a little, although that will take a bit of force the cable is meant to extend out further. Let me know how that goes.

Are the fragile ?

They seem to be made of a pretty cheap plastic and they very commonly break, so yeah they’re pretty fragile

Maybe I watched this video too fast but weren’t there electronic related clips that needed to be disconnected at some point?

I didn’t disconnect any electronics, I just let the door panel sit there.
@jadehorizon18813 жыл бұрын
But if you do want to disconnect it to completely remove the door panel, there should just be a couple clips.

It sucks that we have to get a new door handle just for a common problem

Especially since Ford is aware of it. I've had to replace mine twice already. This time makes the 3rd. The first time I took it to Ford the service manager said Ford is aware of it but decided a recall wasn't cost effective.
