How would you remove the vent piping if it has a longer run? Mine goes more than halfway the length of my garage through another interior wall. I don’t want to rip my wall out. My dryer has condensation in the summer time, and I think that the vent pipe in the wall cavity may be damaged due to foundation problems. I removed the dryer, interior flex vent, and outdoor screen flap. I used a leaf blower to push out anything that might have been trapped, and I can see a clear circle of daylight to the outside.

If you can see a clear circle of daylight the vent piping is already cleaned. No need to remove.

International mechanical code says you can’t use plastic bird cages nothing shall inhibit the airflow from the termination of your dryer vent

It just goes straight through from outside. Alot of vent covers come with enough duct attached to poke through a standard wall.

that is why you clean out the vents - not allowing it to clog up again with lint by using the bird guard

Not sure if it will work. The bird is building a nest from small branches and lint found outside the vent and the bird feels very comfortable inside the vent. It is not the first time it happens to me. It usually happens on the second floor and above (not on the first floor) .

you can use a leaf blower to clear up vent that will blow out all of the debris - since you are just going thru the wall that should keep it clear

This can be a good idea but it demand to move the dryer, remove the duct, blow the debris, reinstall the duct. You may run to a risk that a plastic dryer vent cap may be broken from the blower. Basically, remove and install the duct periodically can be painful when the washer and dryer room is quit tight.

Bird guard is not allowed via building code - it will catch lint which you are trying not to do

You are completely incorrect. That bird guard is allowed, but the ones with fine screening such as a window screen are not. It's also positioned in a location where rain will hit it rinsing it off.

@@grizzlycountry1030 IRC M1502.3 Duct termination - Screens shall not be installed at the duct termination. --- It doesn't say some screens ok - Bird guards are a type of screen and are not allowed, they trap lint. Birds are a possibility, lint is a guarantee. You're also wrong on your comment about the flex duct, that specific type of foil flex duct is not allowed by most dryer manufacturers.

That flex is not fire proof or sturdy and catches lints easily, please get a better one for the safety of your family and your house.
