Nice video, very informative but when connecting the ne tails how do you know which is hot or cold. I found this video helpful.
@makeitwork-propertydiy10Ай бұрын
Hello Paulo. The tails supplied with the monobloc tap are normally the same (so not normally an issue on that front). In terms of connection, you can make a note of the existing tail set up and and tap position and simply replicate (take photo). In the UK, hot tends to be on the left, and cold on the right pipe under sinks (so fairly straight forward). If you're not happy, you could switch one of the isolation values off run the tap to see if the cold or hot tap stops working (you have your answer). You may also be able to run the hot tap for a while and feel which pipe gets warm (you have your answer). Hopefully, one of those methods might help. All the best

I have a twin pillar taps in the kitchen and want to swap to a spring pull done mono. Will the existing pillar tap hole be wide enough to take the new tap?
@makeitwork-propertydiy1010 ай бұрын
My advice would be to measure the existing hole circumference, in relation to combined widths of the two flexi-tails and thread screw. There needs to be enough circumference for all three to slide through. Also ensure that the base of the new monobloc that sits on top is wider than the hole (unlikely to be a major issue as they often are). The biggest issue is likely the fact you’ll be changing from two holes to one, so you should think about how you’ll cover the other hole. I hope that this helps. 👍🏼

Great tips. Personally I’d turn the water off at the main stop cock for the cold and the main stop cock for the hot water tank.

Great video the taps you replaced the new ones I have the same but it keeps dripping is there any replaceable parts on them ? As I can not see any grub secret on the taps to inspect the ceramic discs or is it a New tap Thanks
@makeitwork-propertydiy105 ай бұрын
HHello Karl, there is normally (depending on the model) a small retaining screw behind the main pillar of the tap in the middle (needing small Allen Key) if you need to gain access to the neck. If you need to replace the hot or cold cartridge (which is most common), there are small retaining screws under each tap handle (depending on model - Allen key often 2 to 2.5mm). Spanner to remove cartridge. You'll need to find the right size cartridge - a quick search online should do it (it might be ½” quarter turn but double check)- check screwfix. Depending on price and hassle, sometimes its worth replacing the cartridge, sometimes worth replacing the tap. Hope that this helps a little. All the best

Much easier to attach the crescent-shaped washer and plate before feeding it all through the hole from the top. The reason they are that wacky shape is to allow you to do that. Then you don't have to fiddle on defying gravity to fit them from below.

No need for silicone or PTFE on flexis, they seal with rubber washer on the face of the flanges
