Great video! I’m reassembling a head gasket job that I started about a year ago and I’m glad you uploaded this so that I can make sure I install the connections correctly. This video helped my dad and I change my brothers starter! Everything was right on except there was no plate to remove prior to. But I screwed in the front bolt before the very long back one holding it up. Hard to line up the eyes otherwise!

Big Al Hoffman Vlogs just did it. Took about an hour because I didn’t have an 8mm socket and had to use an adjustable wrench. It works! Sounds a little different than the original but I’ll take it! Thanks again!

As far as delivery services go, FedEx is the bottom of the barrel. They have left packages on the sidewalk on the curb next to the street, they've set it on my back porch, and more than once delivered it to the wrong address. Fortunately I am in a nice neighborhood where everybody helps everyone else out when wrong packages are received. I try to avoid FedEx whenever possible. I have also heard from Friends how they have seen FedEx drivers toss the package out the door as they drive-away. They suck. Other than my rant about FedEx, you have made an awesome video! Whats the bolt pattern to those starters? Mine is like, a diagonal bolt pattern, and for some reason, they're a lil harder to find for my malibu (1999, 2.4l, twincam)

What does the black plastic piece actually cover? Does it have to come off? If it has to come off, does it have to go back on necessarily? Looks like it covers the bolts. Looks like it might cover the flywheel too. Or could I possibly just cut a small piece of that plastic thing a way to get to the one bolt I have a limited amount of tools right now is the reason I don't think I have a 10 mm box wrench all my stuff's in storage.

What ever happened to Big Al? 🤔 I believe the starters are the same for the 2.2L 4 cylinder and the 3.5L V6. Autozone shows same part number for both.

While this IS an informative video (I did learn from it), at 6:50, (on my '01 Malibu) there's a plastic shroud that comes off with a couple of wingnuts that isn't covered here and that's what allows access to the starter. And the video doesn't show much in the way of detail in where on the car you are and which way you're facing (front, back). You have to go under your own car to get your bearings in relation to what the video shows.
