Thank you for this. Saved me prolly $200. My dad was the mechanic in the family but he’s incredibly abusive so I had to finally cut ties and I have no one to turn to with these kinds of questions anymore. Thank you. 🧡

Thank you for making this video. After a lot of research, I found nothing to replace my fan motor and resistor in my '05 Malibu..........must be the old style. Your setup is exactly like what's on mine. Fan was squealing and only had 2 (4 & 5) speeds on the blower. Now I have everything thanks to you. And.........btw, I'm a 71 year old female. ;)

Dude this is awesome I'm a mom I've been riding my kids around with no air for quite a while now it's hot it's miserable I just learned that it's probably the blower motor and resistor so I went and bought them then I looked on KZbin to find a video to see how to do it you did a fantastic job showing me I'm going to go buy the tools right now and get mine replaced so excited to be back to having air conditioning

Yay this is an easy fix...my fans are working when I first start my Malibu but then it sounds like grinding and they turn off so I bet this would fix that. Replaced my serpintine belt and tensioner so this will be what I fix next. 20 yes old Malibu with 120k miles. Gotta keep her on the road

Hey, Big Al. I used to do stuff like that for a living. Anything accesory that you could add to a vehicle, back in the 80's and 90's. I was thinking of doing how to vids, for the stuff I know, such as window tint, air conditioning, electrical problems, ect. I think you did a great job! I will be going thru your vids, as I am always looking to increase my knowledge.

Thank you! This really helps. My car has been overheating and the inside heat wont work. But every once in a while the heat will pop back on and the engine temp will plummet back to safe. You tjink it might be the blower motor?

Thanks in advance .well done video I know I can replace the blower I just need to make sure that is the problem before I start buying or parts also.

How can you tell if just the blower motor, just the resistor or both need to be replaced???
@alleehoff
@alleehoff 5 жыл бұрын
usually if it's just the resistor, some of the fan speeds will work. to be sure if it's the fan and not the resistor you should run constant power thru it after unplugging it.
@lorimarkie7762
@lorimarkie7762 5 жыл бұрын
Big Al Hoffman Vlogs Yeah... it was running on only the last 3 of 5 speeds and off. I got both of the parts (resistor and blower motor) for $30 so I ended up getting both just in case. It was just the resistor. The blower itself was fine but I’m keeping it anyway just in case I need it down the road.
@brychaus
@brychaus 4 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if you monitor these comments anymore. If you do, do you have any tips on how to tell if it's a resistor or a blower issue? All I can say is that my fan will cut in and out and sound all warbly and rough at times. I'm guessing it's the blower, but I figure I might as well ask.
