How to replace a Timing Belt In a Land Rover Freelander 1.8 K series engine.

Replacing the Timing Belt in a Land Rover Freelander 1.8 petrol k series engine. Including replacing the water pump, coolant and belt tensioner. I also show what special tools needed to do the job. This is routine maintenance due every 6 years or 72000 miles. This also applies to Rover vehicles equipped with the 1.8 K series engine. Enjoy my video 😄

Please help me. Belt snapped does it affect the valves? Or you just change the belt?

Most likely yes. If the timing belt has snapped while the engine was running you would have done internal damage. Most likely bent and damaged valves, but there could be damage to pistons, and even the cylinder head or cylinders if a valve broke off. You would need to strip the head off the engine and inspect it to see, or get a bore scope down the spark plug holes to give you an idea of what damage might have been done. Either way it is very likely you will have bent some valves. Best of like mate.

Does the crank pully also has an timing mark?

Yes if you see in the video before I removed the crank pully I had marked with white paint pen the timing notch in the pully. I then did point out the timing marks in the lower timing cover. Also the crank pully has a notch out where the bolt is to fit the mark in the crank gear for the timing belt. There is also mark on the crank sprocket and on the block to line up for TDC when doing the timing belt. Thanks for watching 😁
