How to replace a toilet handle flush lever.
How to replace a cistern lever handle.
In this easy to follow video I will show you how to replace a broken flush lever \ toilet handle. The flush lever replacement is a fairly simple job which just requires some basic tools.
You do not need to turn off the mains water supply to change the toilet cistern lever \ toilet handle replacement. All you really need is confidence and a cup of tea.
So if your toilet won't flush, and the toilet handle just spins around then you need to replace the cistern lever mechanism.
You can purchase a new Toilet Cistern Lever Arm from any local plumbers or hardware shop, they are pretty cheap to buy.
How to change a toilet handle is a fairly simple task.

Thanks for this. The metal arm on my lever snapped this afternoon. Lots of calcium build up on the metal, I live in a hard water area. Got to go out and buy the right sized lever handle. Will try to fix myself - and save some dosh on a plumber! Hopefully!

Yeh may as well have a go. Best bet is take old handle and mechanism off and take that with you so you can match it up and get one roughly the same size and shape, that will help

On the bit where the nut fixes the rod,I've got a (sodding) metal pin that goes through the rod,fixing it in place , which is rusted solid(so I can't move the nut off) . Should I just try snapping the ends off the pin* , so it's as flush to the rod as possible,and then see if I can coax the nut over ? *it's so close to the nut I might just have to file it 😬

Hi, got a dilemma with bath/shower fawcett. To run the bath the water mixes fine. If I were to use the shower the water only comes out increasingly 🔥. How do I fix this. Wanting to put on new thermostatic fawcett. In place.

I'm guessing it's one with the built in thermostats, I really don't like the, as they aren't very reliable. I prefer the old turning manually to mix the hot and cold to get the temp you want. Not sure how you install a new thermostat, hope you get it fixed. Good luck.

the " hook " is called the " C link " throw the plastic lever in the bin, they are crap, use a " BRASS CISTERN LEVER ARM LIFT / LEVER ARM FOR TOILET SYPHON / LINKS FLUSH, " other wise you will end up with same problem ,and use a brass or an " A4 stainless steel round head or cheese head set screw, unless you ra plumber who wants to come back later, to do this again, and again.

The bottom of the metal hook came loose and I can't see how to put it back on? Has the plunger it was attached to dropped down too far? How do I get it back up?

does anyone know how to fix a situation where the water in the toilet flush 'bowl' doesnt stop and it goes to the overflow pipe? its happening because when the 'big balloon' goes up with water the thing its supposed to 'touch' to stop water flow from the mains isnt working i think if i was to pad it so the gap between the two is less might help.. a video would help - sorry but i dont know the proper terms

If you lift the Cistern Ball with your hand when you flush the toilet does it stop the water filling up the cistern? If it does then it probably just needs adjusting so it shuts off the water at a lower height. If not then it's probably broken.

They normally are adjustable on a small screw, if not and it's on a metal rod you can literally bend the metal rod so the ball is lower and so it will shut off quicker. Be careful when you bend it.
