Isn’t there a large o-ring and flat surface gasket around the pump that also shrinks and leaks with age? Did you replace the o-ring? Experience says reseal everything with new once you have transmission out. My 2 cents.
@TheMinuteMasters Жыл бұрын
You are correct. I didn’t change the gasket between the pump and the bell housing because I didn’t want to get that far into this repair. I also didn’t think it was leaking. This transmission needs to be rebuilt anyway.

I hope the bushing in the front is good because if not it will take out the new seal as well.... But they may have fixed that design flaw by then.

@TheMinuteMasters well I did a converter once didn't check how the seal wood fit the torque converter after all the work I did on it when I started the car had a massive leak after redoing everything turns out they sold me the wrong seal ever since that incident when ever I have to replace this particular seal I first check seal to torque for proper fitment before install never had that issue ever again

When transmission pukes fluid ,,, I think the seal don’t stop to actually. I just change the pump and the torque

It looks like you have the channel side of the seal facing away from the transmission? I'm not a transmission expert, but I usually see the seal channel pointed toward the transmission.

If you leak enough fluid, your transmission won’t function properly. However, just having a slow leak won’t cause issues.

How similar is this on a C6 (78 bronco) transmission?
@TheMinuteMastersАй бұрын
Good question! It’s been away since a pulled a C6 but I’m sure it’s similar. If I understand this correctly, the AOD, 40DE, and 4R70w are basically C6 transmissions with overdrive, slightly different gear ratios, and some electronics.
