I completed this job yesterday. I left the spindle attached to the UCA. I removed the two 22MM bolts on the bottom of the spindle and removed the bolts for the sway bar. That was it. No need to remove the ABS wire and steering rod. Removed the strut and installed taller one. I was able to push the LCA out of the way to fit the taller struts. After installing the four strut nuts, I jacked up the LCA, installed the lower strut bolt, and then the two 22MM bolts to the spindle, and finally the sway bar. I found this the easiest way for me to do this job given I was installing taller struts.

I was curious if it could be removed without pressing the spring. Because, even with the upper arm swung up. My Mcpherson style presser couldnt be used. (Hooks too big) I didn't unhook the end links, so the 1st one was a pain!

You and your neighbor make a great team, he's very fortunate to have such a handy neighbor. :o) My only comment would be that while you're talking about removing the four nuts at the top of the tower a reminder to NOT touch the one in the middle that contains the load on the spring. LOL

I just completed this job last night, was simple and this video was helpful! Onn question, after tying everything back up my brakes are a bit more mushier than before any thoughts? Taking it in today for alignment and to get this checked out.
@ERICSDIYGARAGE4 жыл бұрын
I'm glad the video was able to help you out, and that's kind of strange did you disconnect any brake lines? If so you might have added air into the system so you have to probably Bleed It Out but sometimes that can go away on its own if you let it sit for a while since air travels up it will eventually leave the system
@douglaskennedy94864 жыл бұрын
ERICSDIYGARAGE Thanks for the reply! Yah guessing air got in somehow or was in there already and moving the lines around caused the issue to become more pronounced. Thank you!

Just replaced struts on my 2015 Tundra and after watching several videos I did not use this one and neither should you. Do not remove the castellated nut on the upper A arm and don't remove the tie rod end. Find a video that shows removal of the 2 lower knuckle bolts and you will save yourself a lot of time and headache. If you are working off jack stands like I was the only trick was to use the hydraulic jack to lift the lower A arm into place.
